A week after its first season finale, one of this fall's "new" scripted series has secured a second season. CSI: Vegas, a revival/reboot of the long-running and highly successful 2000s crime procedural drama, CSI, has been renewed by CBS. Is first season, which consisted of only ten episodes, was one of the network's lowest-rated series, but it remained impressively steady throughout its run and held nearly all of its Tough as Nails lead-in (retaining 98% of that show's average over the season). William Petersen, who starred in the original series and returned for the first season of Vegas, will not be back in an on-screen capacity in season two. Petersen's fellow star from the original series, Jorja Fox, is not signed on for the second season, but a return for her remains a possibility. Other stars, including Paula Newsome, Mel Rodriguez, Matt Lauria and Mandeep Dhillon, are confirmed to return. CSI: Vegas is the second freshman series to score a renewal in the 2021-22 TV season, following La Brea, which also had a short ten-episode first season.
