Home Economics: Surprisingly, ABC's lowest-rated show is looking a bit less-bad as of late. While it's still underperforming, its ratings are barely any lower than the heavily-promoted freshman The Wonder Years. I don't think that's going to be enough for Home Economics to secure another season, since it is still very low-rated, but ABC seems to be very supportive of it, and the full-season pickup is definitely a positive sign, if not one that ensures a renewal. It now LEANS CANCELLATION, as I can't be as sure of a cancellation for it as I once was.

The Wonder Years: This show has quickly flamed out and become one of the biggest disappointments of the season. While it had a strong debut, it has lost almost half of its debut audience in the key demo, hitting a 0.3 for its midseason finale. While The Goldbergs did pretty poorly just before it (hitting a series low 0.49), that 0.34 is still an embarrassing rating to be hitting so soon after a solid debut. It's clearly been rejected, and it very well may continue to drop as the season goes along. While ABC is probably still going to renew it to avoid admitting complete defeat here, I can imagine it dropping enough to be canceled. If Abbott Elementary or Maggie performs decently, while Wonder Years keeps dropping, they could very well choose to pick one of them (or both) over Wonder. We'll see more about that in the new year. For now, it still LEANS RENEWAL despite not deserving to.
