NCIS: Origins Ordered to Series by CBS

CBS is expanding the NCIS universe with a prequel series, which has been ordered straight-to-series for the 2024-25 TV season. Titled NCIS: Origins, the prequel is a spin-off of the original NCIS series focusing on the character of Gibbs. The series begins in 1991 at NCIS Camp Pendleton.

NCIS: Origins will be produced by CBS Studios and narrated by Mark Harmon, who played Gibbs in NCIS for more than 18 seasons. Before NCIS, Harmon had previously guested as Gibbs in JAG.

NCIS: Origins will be the sixth NCIS series to premiere, following the original series as well as installments located in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawai’i, and Sydney. Another series, NCIS: Red, stalled in development. NCIS is about to enter its 21st season, breaking an all-time record for total seasons for a prime time series on CBS.
