Station 19 to End with Season Seven

Pre-season cancellations continue to roll in, as ABC has now announced that its firefighter drama and Grey's Anatomy spinoff, Station 19, will end after its upcoming seventh season. The series has been a solid ratings performer for ABC, rating as their #1 drama and #3 scripted show overall last season with a 0.47 average. Despite this, there were some warning signs, as ABC opted to shift the show to 10 PM this season in their midseason schedule, to make room at 8 PM for fellow firefighter drama 9-1-1, which moves to ABC from Fox this season. That was despite the show rating higher than its parent series, which stayed put in its previous 9 PM slot. Contracts for Station 19's cast members were also up this season, and renegotiations would have led to a much higher production cost for the series going forward. Despite producing seven seasons, the series will end without ever airing a full twenty-two episode season, as full seasons become an increasing rarity in the TV world. Its final season will run for ten episodes, bringing the series' cumulative run to 105 episodes. Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Boris Kodjoe, Grey Damon and Barrett Doss starred in the series.
