Saturday TV Ratings 12/9/23: SNL Jumps, NBA In-Season Tournament Dominates, Funny You Should Ask Low (UPDATED w/Analysis)


Ratings Analysis: Saturday Night Live (0.70, +0.13) was up significantly when compared to last week as host Adam Driver and musical guest Olivia Rodrigo dropped by 30 Rockefeller Plaza. NBC also had Shrek the Halls, Trolls: Holiday in Harmony (0.20), Dateline (0.25), and SNL Vintage (0.23). The CW tried to compete with NBC's broadcast of Shrek the Halls (0.19) by airing the original Shrek film (0.09) but came up a tenth short. ABC's "Pacers v. Lakers" NBA game (1.35) was easily the top program of the night in the Adults 18-49 demographic. Fox tried to counterprogram with "College Basketball" (0.22/0.15) but failed miserably. CBS brought syndicated game show Funny You Should Ask (0.18/0.15/0.16/0.13) to prime time, but the results were modest at best. 48 Hours (0.20, +0.03) beat all four Funny showings at 10. 

Finals Update: NBA: Pacers v. Lakers (+0.4) adjusted up. NBA Countdown (-0.2) and Trolls: Holiday in Harmony (-0.1) adjusted down.
