3x05 - “Leah’s Struggle, Part 2”

FADE IN:
INT. EXAMINATION ROOM - DAY
Previously on Network, we learned that Leah had a miscarriage.
A tear falls from Leah’s eye.
Leah attempts to wipe it.
LEAH
How is this possible?
DOCTOR
Considering it was early on, it happens a lot. Miscarriage usually happens because there are many factors that play a role. Looking at your charts, you have PCOS as a major factor.
LEAH
I know this. But this was my first pregnancy. I don’t know if there’s anything I did to cause it.
DOCTOR
That happens a lot. This is not your fault.
Ash races towards Leah’s side as tears stream down her face.
He then nudges closer to her.
ASH
Honey, we’re going to get through this. It’s going to take a while.
The doctor nods and then nudges closer to the examination table.
DOCTOR
This is another thing I would like to discuss. I would advise against trying to get pregnant again so soon, until you are emotionally ready. For now, I’m going to prescribe some medication to get rid of the loss quickly and see where it goes.
Leah freezes up in sadness as the doctor writes on her clipboard.
BACK TO PRESENT EPISODE.
INT. PENTHOUSE LIVING ROOM - DAY
SUPER: THREE DAYS LATER
Leah wakes up.
Then she sighs.
Leah then hurries up to the bedroom.
INT. BEDROOM - DAY
Leah enters the room where she attempts to find a work outfit.
Ash then enters the room.
Ash is startled about the commotion in their room.
ASH
Honey, it’s Saturday. Why not rest?
LEAH
Rest is for the weak, dear. We got things to do. People to see.
ASH
Monday.
Leah pauses.
She then sits on the bed, as if to reflect.
LEAH
I want to have another baby.
ASH
Against doctor’s orders? It’s been three days.
LEAH
I don’t care about that. I just want to feel the baby inside me.
Leah breaks down.
Ash then sits next to her and attempts to comfort her.
ASH
Honey, we just lost a child. The grieving process takes time. We can go to therapy. We can work things out. We will have another baby, just not right now.
LEAH
And forget about the baby we’ve lost?
ASH
No, sweetheart. Our little angel will always be with us. Watching over us.
Leah then sighs.
She then gets up.
LEAH
Maybe you’re right. I don’t feel emotionally ready.
She then sits back down next to Ash.
Next week, we’re changing pace.
