Fox has begun to make decisions on a long list of bubble shows as we head into Upfronts next week, and they're kicking things off with a cancellation. Rescue: HI-Surf, the freshman Hawaii-set drama that debuted this fall behind an NFL game and quickly faltered in its regular time slot, has been canceled after a single season. It was a rough season for the drama, which averaged 0.22 in the key demo this season, even with a 1.1 premiere that was inflated by a big NFL lead-in. Before the season began, Rescue: HI-Surf was announced as this year's Super Bowl lead-out, a huge display of confidence in a freshman show that would've aired over half its first season by the time of the game. Three months into its run, Fox was unenthused by what they saw, and pulled it from that post-Super Bowl slot - instead offering it to promising game show The Floor. Ratings remained low through the run of Rescue: HI-Surf, though it still performed better than several other bubble dramas that currently remain in contention, including Alert, Accused, and The Cleaning Lady. Robbie Magasiva, Arielle Kebbel, Adam Demos, Zoe Cipres, Alex Aiono and Kekoa Scott Kekumano starred in the series. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
