Night Court Canceled by NBC

Court is officially adjourned on NBC. The network has canceled sitcom continuation Night Court after three seasons. The show began as a massive ratings success for NBC, but slid as the season went on, eventually becoming a more modest performer. That was still enough to earn it two more renewals, but the show was pushed to 8:30 for its third season, dropping as a result. The sitcom averaged 0.22 in the key demo this season, a 30% decline from the prior season, and dropped as low as 0.15. Night Court was a co-production with Warner Bros, with the studio unable to work out a deal with NBC for a short final season. The series aired on Tuesday nights, a night that NBC will no longer be programming next season, due to a deal to air NBA games. The two-episode finale that aired this Tuesday will now serve as its series finale. John Larroquette was the only returning regular cast member from the original series, leading the cast alongside Melissa Rauch. Wendie Malick, Lacretta and Nyambi Nyambi also starred in the series. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
