ABC Passes on Four Pilots

ABC has decided against ordering four of their pilots to series. They are as follows:

Legal drama pilot Judgment was over two timelines, centering on a woman being vetted for the US Supreme Court as she recounts her experience at a DC law firm in present day, including her cases and love life that saw her caught between two feuding brothers. With all of her darkest series are at risk of coming out, her SCOTUS nomination, her reputation, and her marriage are in jeopardy. Sarah Shahi, Reid Scott, Francois Arnaud and Portia Doubleday starred in the pilot.

Medical drama The Hurt Unit starred Ben McKenzie, Michelle Ortiz and Melissa George, and centered on the HURT Unit, a team of highly-trained surgeons who treated patients in the field in instances where patients were unable to get to the ER.

Keeping It Together, a comedy pilot, starred Ellie Kemper and Judy Greer and focused on a working mom whose life isn't going as planned, leading her to search for a place she fits in. It was based on the UK series Motherland.

Public Defenders centered on four inexperienced public defenders with massive student debt who work tirelessly to keep their clients out of jail, relying on one another to get through work. Anthony Anderson led the cast.

ABC, on the heels of renewing every single bubble show earlier today, has handed out three new series orders.

ABC Passes on Epic

ABC has decided against ordering fantasy drama Epic, from the creators of Once Upon a Time, to series. The series is a romantic anthology that reinvents fairy tales for modern times. Brittany O'Grady, Sarah Hyland, and Eleanor Fanyinka were set to lead the cast.

Promised Land Ordered to Series by ABC

ABC has ordered family drama Promised Land to series. It is a generation-spanning drama centering on two Latino families who are vying for wealth and power in California Sonoma Valley. Christina Ochoa, John Ortiz, Mariel Molino and Katya Martin are set to star.

ABC Passes on Triage, National Parks and Dark Horse

ABC has passed on ordering three of its off-cycle drama pilots for the 2021-22 TV season.

Triage was the story of pioneering surgeon Finley Briar over three distinct decades at the same hospital. With the evolution of medicine as the backdrop, the show explores the interconnected careers, friendships and romances of Finley and her colleagues and their tenuous relationship with time. Parisa Fitz-Henley, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Michael Ealy, Andrew Richardson and Jamie-Lynn Sigler were set to star in the series, which was produced by Criminal Minds' Erica Messer.

Kevin Costner-produced drama National Parks has also been rejected by ABC. The pilot centered on agents for the Investigative Services Branch, who are tasked with solving crims committed within the vast, breathtaking National Parks in the Pacific West. Billy Campbell, Angel Parker, Guillermo Diaz and Tiffany Dupont starred.

ABC also passed on political drama Dark Horse. It centers on an Indigenous woman who is thrust into the national spotlight after a horrific event, who is then handpicked by political powerbrokers to be a state senator. No cast was announced for the project, which was executive produced by actress Rachel Griffiths.

Fellow off-cycle drama pilots Epic and Promised Land remain in contention for series orders, with decisions still to come.
