First Week Peak: Can Avatar: Seven Havens Hold Off CBS Premiere Week?

Welcome to First Week Peak, a column which discusses shows that are about to premiere on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Paramount+, HBO Max, Peacock, Hulu, and/or Apple TV. Each discussion concludes with a prediction for the show's weekly peak performance on their respective streaming service's U.S. trending chart, including a reader poll. All Attention Scores come from Television Stats as of October 3, 2026. Final results can be found in our weekly What's Trending On Streaming column. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Streaming Premieres

Despite CBS's premiere week happening this week, Paramount+ still has a new original coming in Avatar: Seven Havens. The series is an animated sequel to the 2000s Nickelodeon anime series Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the 2010s sequel The Legend of Korra. It's already been renewed for a second season, and joins Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender in the Avatar universe.

Avatar: Seven Havens has a higher Attention Score than almost every returning CBS series. While that's not unexpected given the cult following of this IP, it's also a sign this isn't going to fly under the radar. In fact, it may even block a show or two from being able to reach #1 in its first week.

Prime Video's miniseries Carrie (9.7 Attention Score) and Netflix's miniseries Below (3.1 Attention Score) are also eyeing #1 debuts. The return of Hulu's The Kardashians for an eighth season will lock up multiple days at #1 if it repeats its performance from last fall's seventh season.

While Reasonable Doubt's 0.9 Attention Score is rather putrid, the highest it's ever gone is a 1.6 back in October 2022. This is a show that keeps chugging along despite low online buzz, so there's no reason to believe a fifth season is out of reach if that kind of performance continues.

Broadcast Premieres

CBS is bringing back their entire scripted lineup this week, which is bound to lead to a volatile Paramount+ chart. Long-running franchise starters like NCIS and FBI are most likely to be competitive at the top of the chart based on last season's performance. Sheriff & Fire Country should also appear in the upper echelons based on last season's performance, although a decline could be in order if Sheriff Country sees the type of overall ratings decline that Fire Country did last season despite robust streaming peaks.

NCIS: New York is showing early promise with a 3.8 Attention Score, which is far closer to NCIS (5.2 Attention Score) than NCIS: Origins (1.6 Attention Score) or the benched NCIS: Sydney (1.1 Attention Score). It should land squarely within Paramount+'s Top 10, something Origins often failed to do and Sydney always failed to do. Given it is the series premiere, it will likely go higher this week than it will in future weeks. NCIS: Origins may make the lower end of the chart, especially given the soft retool, but it's not something to be counted on doing regularly.

Also making their series premieres this week are Cupertino and Eternally Yours. The former will likely have a solid premiere, just like Elsbeth did, while the latter is more of a wild card dependent on if it acts more like Ghosts or one of the newer comedies CBS has premiered.

NBC is bringing back all five Dick Wolf dramas this week, with Law & Order: SVU being the most likely to top Peacock's chart. Of the Chicagos, P.D. typically charts the best and Med the worst, with Fire in between. The original Law & Order, if making an appearance, will likely end up on the lower end of the Top 10.

Abbott Elementary will return to ABC, which consistently makes Hulu's Top 15 chart, but isn't something typically seen in the top spot. Combined with the returns of Hulu originals The Kardashians and Reasonable Doubt, Abbott Elementary may have trouble making it past #4.
