Criminal Minds Canceled After 20 Seasons

The milestone twentieth season of Criminal Minds will be its last. Paramount+ has unceremoniously canceled the series, weeks after the season finished filming. The news came as a surprise to the show's cast and crew, who were only informed of the decision today - season twenty was not planned in advance as the show's final chapter. It's the first show axed under the new Paramount+ leadership team following the recent closure of Skydance's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Revived just two years after ending its fifteen-year run on CBS, Criminal Minds ran five seasons as a Paramount+ original, and was among the streamer's top-performing originals. It regularly charted in their daily top ten TV chart, even months out from airing new episodes. However, the series was only partially owned by Paramount, which co-produces the series with Disney's 20th Television. AJ Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Paget Brewster, Joe Mantegna, Aisha Tyler, and Adam Rodriguez were among the longtime stars of the series, initially starring in the CBS version before returning for the Paramount+ revival.
