Marshals Renewed for Season Two

It's aired just two episodes, but that's all CBS needed to know they wanted more Marshals. The Yellowstone spinoff has already been renewed for a second season, just a week and a half after its splashy debut, which saw the series debut to the highest rating for a scripted series this season without NFL assistance, with a 0.67 in the key 18-49 demo and 9.5 million viewers - its most-watched series premiere since Young Sheldon. In multiplatform viewing, the show's premiere drew over twenty million viewers, marking CBS's best launch in recent years in this metric as well. The show's success comes as little surprise, as the Yellowstone franchise has been a huge money-maker for Paramount over the years, with the parent series ranking among TV's highest-rated scripted series during the last few seasons of its run, despite airing on cable. Luke Grimes reprised his Yellowstone role as Kayce Dutton, with Gil Birmingham, Brecken Merrill, and Mo Brings Plenty also joining him on the new series, and Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, and Ash Santos among new additions. Sunday TV Ratings 12/15/24: An Evening with Dua Lipa Weak, Yellowstone Sees Small Rise for Series Finale, Following Yonder Star Low on Hallmark [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: An Evening with Dua Lipa (0.32) disappointed on CBS, retaining less than a third of the NFL-boosted 60 Minutes (1.05, +0.70) that led into it. Fox had less NFL help than last week, so Universal Basic Guys (0.56, -0.31) took a hit, but The Simpsons (0.40, -0.03) was barely down at all at 8:30. In the 9 p.m. hour, Bob's Burgers (0.33, +0.05) and Krapopolis (0.20, +0.04) managed to gain a few ticks. On ABC, The Sound of Music (0.22) was a tenth below its year-ago showing (0.32). NBC's Packers v. Seahawks NFL game (4.14) was several notches behind last week's game (4.67). America's Funniest Home Videos (0.26, +0.01) ticked up on ABC and led into The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular (0.25). NBC's 49ers/Bills NFL game (5.14) was the top-rated program of the night. Fox had NFL Overrun (5.85) and The OT (2.45), so The Simpsons (0.67, +0.45), Universal Basic Guys (0.39, +0.17), Bob's Burgers (0.38, +0.13), and Krapopolis (0.25, +0.08) all rose. ABC aired two America's Funniest Home Videos originals (0.26/0.25) and followed that up with the Disney film Moana (0.16). NBC's Eagles v. Ratings Analysis: The NFL Overrun (7.36) grew in size on CBS, so 60 Minutes (1.29, +0.23) gained two-tenths, but Tracker (0.62, -0.01) ticked down. In the 10 p.m. hour, The Equalizer (0.35, +0.04) set a new season high. America's Funniest Home Videos (0.28, -0.04) slipped on ABC, but Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (0.23) was a clear improvement over the week-ago Mrs. Doubtfire (0.17). On NBC, the Bengals/Chargers NFL game (4.19) was three-tenths below last week's Lions/Texans game (4.52).
