ELENA, MARISSA, KATIE, TRISH, KRISTIN, CAROLYN, and VAL are sitting in the Bridgeport Zebras' bullpen. ELENA is visibly nervous.
CAROLYN
Elena, it's unusual to see you like this. Everything okay?
ELENA
None of your business.
TRISH
You can't possibly still be embarrassed about last week.
ELENA
I got RSN Bridgeport's station liaison from corporate escorted out by security thinking he was a crazy fan. He could come back any day!
TRISH
He probably deserved it.
KATIE
Yeah, now we don't have to deal with whatever it is he wanted to say.
VAL
Trust me, you don't want to deal with those guys. They drove the Indianapolis Primitives right out of town. Became the Santa Fe Primitives.
MARISSA
Doesn't RSN have a station in Santa Fe too?
VAL
I don't know, that's just how I remember it going. Now all that's left there is women's basketball. Who wants to watch women play sports?
ELENA
For one, anyone tuning into RSN Bridgeport to see you pitch in one of these games.
VAL
I wouldn't want to watch me pitch.
TRISH
Yeah me neither.
CAROLYN
Trish!
TRISH
You've seen her pitch, she's terrible!
KATIE
Trish has a point, Carolyn.
VAL
Okay, I'm not *that* bad.
ELENA
You're pretty bad.
VAL
Then why do you ever put me in the game?!
ELENA
I'm a bad coach, what can I say.
BLAKE
That's concerning.
TRISH
Who the hell are you?
BLAKE
I'm Blake. I represent RSN Bridgeport and I'm here to chat with you guys.
ELENA
Respectfully, what?
BLAKE
I was told to.
ELENA
By?
BLAKE
The board. Look, between us, I don't want to do this either.
MARISSA
Bro, why would you admit that?
BLAKE
You kidding? I've had cameras following me around the office for over a year now. This is freeing!
CAROLYN
Cameras? Like, to take your picture?
BLAKE
Video cameras. To document everything we do. It's supposed to help RSN get back on track but instead we're stuck talking to a documentary crew for half the day so we can't get our jobs done. Like launching RSN--nevermind.
ELENA
Go on.
BLAKE
RSN+. Our streaming service. With any luck, it was supposed to give the Bridgeport Zebras a national audience.
VAL
So what are you saying, people in Indianapolis would watch a friggin Bridgeport Zebras game?
BLAKE
It's better than having to shut the station down! Because nobody in Bridgeport is watching.
Everyone is silent.
BLAKE
Yeah. That's why I'm here. Station's getting shut down at the end of the month.
CAROLYN
What?
BLAKE
I'm sorry you had to learn this way.
ELENA
What'll happen to the Bridgeport Zebras?
BLAKE
Hell if I know, but it can't mean anything good.
TRISH
You don't understand...I'm here on parole. I can't afford to lose this!
MARISSA
I have a wife and two kids to feed!
KRISTIN
You do?
MARISSA
Nah but I wanted to sound dramatic.
BLAKE
I do have a couple ideas.
ELENA
We're all ears.
BLAKE looks behind him and sees the bullpen projected on the big screen in the outfield.
BLAKE
Is that another camera behind me?! Dammit, I'll just tell you after the game.
VAL
Marissa and I had a really good game of Go Fish going on before this if you want to join in.
BLAKE
Sure, why not.
