Grey’s Anatomy Texas Spin-Off Ordered to Series at ABC

ABC has just given a straight-to-series order for a still untitled Grey's Anatomy offshoot set in Texas, which will launch in Midseason 2027.

Per Deadline, "It is described as an edgy drama about a team at a rural West Texas medical center, the last chance for care before miles of nowhere." and it's likely to share the Thursdays at 10pm slot with the 23rd season of the mothership series. The episode order is still TBD but, should be on par with recent ABC midseason shows (9-10 episodes). Debbie Allen’s Catherine Fox is rumored to star on the show.

It marks the third consecutive time ABC has expanded one of their biggest flagship shows in the last year: 9-1-1: Nashville launched last fall (being a spin-off of 9-1-1) and now, The Rookie: North and the untitled Texas set Grey's Anatomy spin-off, which are both premiering next year at ABC. Out of the three, only The Rookie: North went through the pilot process as both 9-1-1 and Grey's Anatomy offshoots got straight-to-series orders.

What do you think of this piece of news? You think it's a good addition to the ABC 2026-2027 schedule? Let us know in the comments.
