SCOTT, HECTOR, AMANDA, and EVAN are all sitting in EVAN’s living room. They had just finished watching the last of the 40 pilots they acquired for STREAM.
EVAN
Guys, I really can’t believe we actually have 40 pilots ready for STREAM!
AMANDA
When you say it like that, it sounds like we’re actually onto something.
SCOTT
Yeah, remember none of these pilots can go to series.
EVAN
So what, content is content. And we got a lot of it!
HECTOR
Awful heavy on the comedy though.
AMANDA
Not really, 30 are dramas and 10 are comedies.
HECTOR
Really? I thought 10 are dramas and 30 are comedies.
AMANDA
Did I get the number wrong?
SCOTT
No it’s 30 dramas, 10 comedies.
HECTOR
Then why did I laugh my ass off during 30 of them, and why did I only feel fear during 10?
EVAN
Well, you probably found the dramas to be funny because they’re bad, and the comedies to be scary because they’re bad.
HECTOR
Ah, makes sense. Think anyone will watch these?
EVAN
Eh. Maybe.
AMANDA
Honestly the important thing is that they watch the ads.
SCOTT
Crap, I didn’t even think of that! We do need ads to pay for this, don’t we?
EVAN
Oh don’t worry, I already have one sponsor. It’s an adult film company so it should fit right in with our target audience, seeing as they like television.
HECTOR
Sorry it’s a what company?
EVAN
Adult film. They make movies with adults.
Everyone looks at EVAN silently.
EVAN
Is…something wrong with that?
AMANDA
How much ad space did they buy?
EVAN
They want to advertise on all our shows. I think it’ll really help us out!
AMANDA
Have they given you the ad yet?
EVAN
Yep. Haven’t gotten the chance to watch it yet.
SCOTT
You should.
EVAN
Fine.
EVAN opens his computer and starts to watch the ad.
EVAN
Okay I see what you’re saying.
AMANDA
We can’t let them advertise on STREAM.
HECTOR
I have an idea. What if we encourage subscriptions, and we run that ad as a way to entice people to get the subscription?
SCOTT
That’s actually not a bad idea. Let’s do it.
EVAN
So it’s settled, STREAM is free with an adult film ad and, what…$5/month with no ads?
AMANDA
Overselling it. $3/month.
EVAN
$3/month it is.
HECTOR
One question though, are we launching all 40 pilots at once or staggering them?
SCOTT
Yeah since nobody knows any of these shows, it might not be the best idea to just throw 40 of them onto an unknown service at once.
AMANDA
Let’s launch them at once but focus advertising on certain ones at different times. I think we should focus on Keyboard Karate.
HECTOR
That a drama or comedy?
AMANDA
Drama. You found it hilarious.
HECTOR
And I’m sure our viewers will as well. Now if you excuse me I think we’ve done enough work for the day.
HECTOR leaves EVAN’s house.
