3x03 - “Back in Court, Shotgun Wedding”

FADE IN:
INT. COURTHOUSE HALLWAY - DAY
The gang's together for, you guessed it, a wedding. At least it is not about lawsuits and other serious things.
Jesse and Kasey are sitting on opposite sides of the courthouse. The tension is in the room.
Leah and Ash look at each other, happy as can be. They are sitting on the same side as Jesse.
Matt, in a suit and tie, looks nervous. He wipes the sweat from his brow as he paces back and forth.
BATHROOM
In the women’s restroom, Charlie is with Holly. She helps Holly to a dress she is wearing.
Holly sighs.
She then turns to Charlie after the fitting.
HOLLY
I wonder if this looks right.
CHARLIE
As long as it feels right, work it honey!
Holly smiles at Charlie.
BACK TO THE HALLWAY.
Everyone is settled down. Suddenly, Jesse walks over to Kasey.
Kasey turns to Jesse.
JESSE
Are you sure you are okay?
KASEY
I’ll be fine.
JESSE
Kasey, come on. It’s a wedding. It’s Matt and Holly’s day to celebrate.
KASEY
Funny that you would say that about your ex, Jesse. You couldn’t even stand to be in the same room with her.
JESSE
That’s all in the past now.
Leah, overhearing the conversation, decides to bring Jesse back to the other side.
LEAH
That’s enough now. Jesse, get back to your seat.
Jesse then sits down.
The wedding begins.
Holly walks down the aisle.
Charlie then sits on the same side as Jesse, Leah, and Ash. She turns towards Jesse.
CHARLIE
(quietly)
Well, what’s going on with you and Kasey? Why aren’t you sitting together?
JESSE
I don’t want to discuss this right now.
CHARLIE
That’s what they all say when their relationship is on shaky ground.
JESSE
What is that supposed to mean, exactly?
They then focus their attention on the ceremony.
Minutes later, Matt and Holly kiss in front of the congregation.
Everyone cheers.
Matt and Holly joyfully leave the aisle and exit the courthouse.
INT. BANQUET HALL - DAY
Minutes later, everyone is gathered together. Holly then gets up.
HOLLY
Matt and I would like to thank everyone for coming today. I know it’s all short notice, but we would never get another chance like this.
Jesse raises his glass.
Kasey glares at Jesse in the table.
Leah pulls Ash aside and heads to the reception hallway.
HALLWAY
Leah and Ash then stand together. They face each other.
LEAH
Kasey and Jesse are really distracting the occasion.
ASH
I noticed that. It’s not something we can avoid with Jesse, or with Kasey.
LEAH
I don’t know about you, but I need to talk to Kasey about this. We’ve tried separating them, we’ve tried everything. But so far, nothing seems to work.
ASH
So far, I think we are in agreement.
Leah and Ash exit the scene.
BACK TO THE BANQUET HALL.
Leah and Ash enter the scene to break up Kasey and Jesse. Ash takes Jesse and Leah takes Kasey.
Ash turns to Jesse.
ASH
Can’t you for one second attempt to put aside your differences for just one day?
JESSE
I’ve tried that, Ash. But I don’t think it’s just the baby that’s putting us on shaky ground.
Leah and Kasey turn towards each other.
KASEY
I need to break up with him, Leah. I need some space.
LEAH
Kasey, if this isn’t just a rough patch, then go ahead. Otherwise, think before you do that. But think anyway. Jesse has changed the past year compared to both me and Holly.
KASEY
Things change, Leah.
LEAH
But think about this. Stick this out for at least a few more days. Let things calm down between you two.
Kasey nods.
Ash and Jesse return to their places at the table.
On the next Network, we are heading into a more serious episode.
