FADE IN:

EXT. OLD MANSION - DAY

An old mansion sits in the heart of Malibu, right on the beach.

The sun is close to the top part of the day. It happens to be 10am.

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

Noah sits in the living room on his computer.

Frustration builds up.

Jack enters the scene from downstairs. He walks up.

JACK
Any ideas?

NOAH
Nope. I’ll make a phone call.

Jack shrugs. He heads into the kitchen.

INTERCUT - WILL’S APARTMENT LIVING ROOM/LIVING ROOM

Will is typing away at what appears to be job applications.

The phone rings. Reluctantly, Will picks up.

WILL
Noah! I never thought I would hear from you again.

NOAH
It’s a long story. I need to ask you for a favor. Do you have any ideas for a script? I am having trouble coming up with any.

Will springs to action as he organizes some files.

WILL
Let’s see, I got workplace sitcoms, family sitcoms, horror dramas, yada yada yada…

NOAH
That’s a start…

Jack walks into the living room.

He sits on the sofa next to Noah.

He looks at Noah while Noah is on the phone.

He sighs.

NOAH (CONT'D)
Hold on, I’m going to put you on speakerphone.

Noah presses the speaker button.

He turns to Jack.

NOAH (CONT'D)
Jack, Will has some ideas. Would you like to hear them?

JACK
Hesitant, but I’ll give an ear.

WILL (O.S.)
Okay, here goes nothing.

As Will gives the pitch, an annoyance rises over Jack.

Minutes later, Jack gets up from the sofa.

Noah turns off the phone.

END PHONE CONVERSATION.

He then goes to Jack.

Jack turns to Noah.

JACK
This is a terrible idea, Noah!

NOAH
Jack, he has an impressive writing background. A degree. Something we don’t even have. He’s won numerous awards while in school and he has kept several of his scripts for revision of ideas.

JACK
I know about the revision process, Noah.

For what seems like hours, Jack returns to his spot on the sofa.

Noah dials the phone again.

NOAH
Guess what? You’re in.

INTERCUT - WILL'S APARTMENT LIVING ROOM/LIVING ROOM

Will sighs.

WILL
What do you mean, I’m in?

NOAH
Jack has agreed to let you work with us on the upcoming script project.

WILL
Yay! This sounds great!

On next week’s episode, the work begins! There is also some tension.
