Netflix has canceled romantic drama Sweet Magnolias after five seasons. The show premiered in May 2020, and most recently aired its fifth season in June 2026. Sweet Magnolias notched an 8.2 Attention Score per Television Stats the day of its premiere, and peaked at a 10.5 a few days later. 30 days after the seasons premiere, it dropped 77% from its debut to a 1.9 Attention Score. By the time of its cancelation, it was down to a 0.8 Attention Score, which is lower than any other high-profile Netflix original that aired this summer. The recently renewed comedy Tires, meanwhile, had a 60% drop in its first 30 days, from a 19.2 to a 7.6 score.
Sweet Magnolias made an appearance in Netflix's Top 10 US TV shows daily chart from June 12 through June 30, and spent both June 13 and 14 atop the chart. It spent three weeks on Netflix's weekly top 10 chart globally, where it peaked at #3. The fifth season of Sweet Magnolias had 806 million minutes viewed within its first four days, and picked up 8.3 million views by June 28.
Netflix also announced a series order for the drama Ladies of the House, which is created by Sweet Magnolias showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson and starring Sweet Magnolias star JoAnna Garcia Swisher. Netflix describes the show as "feel-good comfort entertainment."
