Ghosts
Ghosts returned with a two-episode Halloween special on Thursday, and as expected out-peaked every other CBS Thursday show on Paramount+. Its #4 peak tied that of Survivor and Fire Country, and was ahead of everything else except the #2 and #3 peaks achieved by Marshals, NCIS, Tracker, Sheriff Country, and FBI. Its Attention Score the day after the premiere was a 14.0, nearly double that of the Season 5 premiere. While linear ratings are to be determined, these are certainly solid indicators of success for the special.
If CBS had an excuse to move away from Ghosts, they probably would. This is the second season of a two-season renewal, and cast contracts have gotten more expensive than those on many other shows on CBS. The show's age and expenses may make a renewal complicated, but not impossible. While Eternally Yours likely had been tapped as a potential Ghosts replacement, the show clearly is not working out.
This is not quite the same situation as the current ninth season of NBCUniversal co-owned FBI, coming to the end of a three-season renewal. While Ghosts' days may be numbered by CBS's budget-friendly decision-making, it's too early to pull the plug just yet. CBS is having a solid beginning to the 2026-27 TV season, but not so much that they can easily get rid of Ghosts.
Week 4 Poll Results
In Week 3, you were asked if you think Cupertino will be renewed or canceled, where you think Ghosts' Halloween special will peak on Paramount+ in Week 4, and which show you personally like better: Eternally Yours or DMV.
Most respondents (74%) said Cupertino would be renewed for a second season. 77% said Ghosts would peak either in the #1-#3 range or the #4-#6 range, with 39% correctly choosing the latter. Eternally Yours is widely more personally liked by poll respondents than DMV, by a margin of 69%-31%.
