What’s Trending on Streaming: Daily Trending Lists for Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+ and HBO Max from July 27-August 2

Another week has come and gone, meaning it's time for our weekly update of the streaming service's top ten (or fifteen) charts. It was a week with few premieres, as many of the most consistently strong performers remained on top.

Hulu:

It was a reality-heavy week on Hulu, as just one scripted series topped their chart, and for only one day - ABC soap General Hospital. The rest of the week was topped by unscripted programming. First, it was Love Island UK, which spent two days at the top. Then, Bachelor in Paradise led the way, though for just one day - a far cry from just a few weeks ago, when it was #1 for the entire week. After that, crime docuseries Mr. & Mrs. Murder led the way for two days. That show was replaced at #1 by Project Runway, which aired its first episode on Freeform this week, debuting at #6 on the chart before rising to the top the next day. Outside of their two #1 shows, it was a mediocre week for ABC. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire charted two days this week, and its performance after its second episode was weaker than it was last week after its premiere. It stayed on the chart three days after the premiere, and just one day after episode two. Similar could be said about Match Game, which charted four days this week. While it stayed on the chart a day longer than Millionaire after last week's episode, and a day longer this week, its performance was much weaker than last week. It peaked at #5 last week and at just #12 this week, which isn't all that surprising, given last week was Martin Short's first episode, and people were likely tuning in just to sample it rather than planning to make it routine viewing. Celebrity Family Feud was the ABC game show that charted the most this week, with five appearances on the chart. Unlike the Wednesday game shows, Feud improved significantly this week. Last week, just one of its five chart appearances was inside the top ten. This week, it's the reverse, falling out of the top ten only once on the days it cracked the top fifteen. Press Your Luck was not as, excuse the pun, "lucky." The Elizabeth Banks series has been thew weakest ABC series on Hulu this summer, and it remained so, being the only show aired on ABC this week that failed to chart whatsoever. Every Fox series that aired this week charted. LEGO Masters aired its finale this week, and charted one day at #8. The Quiz with Balls wasn't far behind at #10. The 1% Club remained the strongest of the Monday and Tuesday series, charting two days and rising as high as #6, while The Snake charted one day at #9. Gordon Ramsay's shows were the highlight of Fox's week, with MasterChef charting six days and rising as high as #5. Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service returned from a week off and charted three days, peaking at #7. Bob's Burgers, coming off a week off, charted three days this week, jumping to sixth for the week after two new episodes aired. Hulu original Washington Black started the week strong at #3, but fell as the week went on, slipping off the chart by Saturday.  The Bear continued its familiar pattern, being at its strongest at the start of the week and then declining as the week went on. Unlike Washington Black, which was a much more recent premiere, The Bear held onto its top 15 position all week. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia improved on last week's modest showing, charting every day this week and peaking at #6.

Disney+:

It was a wonderfully weird week on Disney+, as its chart was dominated by an unlikely series. Sister streamer Hulu revived The Amazing World of Gumball, a Cartoon Network series from the 2010s, this week, but it was Disney+ where it really made its mark. The show didn't crack Hulu's top 15 once, but topped the Disney+ chart four times over five appearances this week. While the show is likely more fit for the youth-heavy Disney+ audience, we've never seen a Hulu original fail to chart at all while simultaneously charting on Disney+, let alone this high. Gumball wasn't the only kids show to spend time at #1 this week, as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+ spent one day at #1 this week, and then immediately trailed Gumball for the rest of the week. The other two days of this week had special looks at Disney's summer theatrical releases at #1 - first The Fantastic Four, then Freakier Friday. Freakier Friday's impending release also spawned increased interest in Freaky Friday, which charted the entire week, peaking at #3. It was similar for The Fantastic Four, which saw the earliest film versions of the superhero quartet charting through this week thanks to the release of the latest iteration. Animated Black Panther spinoff series Eyes of Wakanda dropped this week, and entered the chart at #4.

Note: Disney+ is the only service not to provide a separate list for TV shows and movies. On this chart, movies are listed in bold.

Peacock:

Peacock still seems to be struggling to find its way in a world without Love Island. The viral dating show was #1 at the start of the week, but begun its descent down the chart soon after that, ultimately ending the week at #6. Nothing that replaced it at #1 looked all that impressive. First was an exclusive first look at The Bad Guys 2, which was off the chart entirely the next day. The next two days were led by a pair of Broadcast shows - Real Housewives of Atlanta an Below Deck. Then, The Idaho Student Murders returned to the chart, despite being a 90 minute movie and not a TV show. The streamer did bring back one of their scripted originals this week, so it wasn't a complete snooze of a week on Peacock. Twisted Metal was back from a two-year break and has been #2 on the chart since, a respectable return. Long-ended TNT procedural Rizzoli & Isles was one of the only other scripted series on the chart, charting the entire week and rising as high as #3. Resident Alien also charted, for four days, peaking at #6. The Syfy's alien dramedy is in its last few weeks, after it was recently confirmed that season four would be its final season. Dateline NBC was NBC's biggest contribution to the chart this week, with five appearances on the chart this week. The only other NBC series on the chart was Destination X, which charted for only one day in its finale week. The Bravo+ end of Peacock remained alive and well this week too, with The Valley, Real Housewives of Orange County and Miami and Kings Court joining the aforementioned chart-toppers in Peacock's top 10 this week.

Paramount+:

After ending Criminal Minds' streak at #1, South Park outright swept the top spot on Paramount+ this week. It did so in spite of taking the week off, despite being just one episode into the season, making this impressive feat all the more impressive. There was plenty of competition across Paramount+ this week, with several Paramount+/Showtime originals airing new episodes. The Chi peaked the highest of those shows, making its way to #2 and spending the entire week on the chart. Dexter: Resurrection wasn't as strong, charting four days this week and rising to #5 at its best point. That's the same peak as its parent series, which charted more days in all (though it has far more episodes to its name, which is a major factor as to why all of these long-running shows show up on the chart so much, even without new episodes coming out). Star Trek: Strange New Worlds rose to #4 at its best point this week, dropping as low as #10. The lone CBS summer series, Big Brother, of course charted all week thanks to its three new episodes, ranging from eighth to second. NCIS was the only CBS series not currently airing new episodes that charted the entire week, as the increased competition begins to block some of the other series from reaching the top ten. Blue Bloods charted six days, Survivor charted three, and The Neighborhood charted for just one day.

HBO Max:

And Just Like That... HBO Max lost one of its top originals. The Sex and the City continuation has been a top performer on HBO Max throughout its third season, but it will end with its current third season, apparently due to a creative choice. In one of its final weeks before HBO says a final(?) farewell to Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, it once again spent three days at #1, spending most (but not all) of the rest of the week at #2. Fellow #1 show The Gilded Age had different news this week, as the period drama was renewed for a fourth season. Given its strong streaming performance and critical acclaim, that one wasn't much of a shock. It continues to spend four days at #1 on HBO Max, as it has since its season three debut. Also looking strong this week was Billy Joel documentary series And So It Goes, which started the week at #2 (ahead of The Gilded Age) and hasn't dropped below fourth, even as new competition hits HBO Max. Some of that new competition came in the form of HBO's talk series, Last Week Tonight and Real Time. The John Oliver series continued to be a solid chart performer, entering at #4 and rising to #2 the next day. It's remained on the chart since then, dropping as low seventh. We only have one day of chart appearances from Real Time, as it just returned last night, but it started out at #4 on the chart as it returns from a month off. HBO Max's reality series Back to the Frontier, a production of Chip and Joanna Gaines, charted four days this week. Roughly half the chart, as always, was made up of unscripted cable series, including A Killer Among Friends, 90 Day: Hunt for Love, and Welcome to Plathville.
