ANALYSIS
Because every TV network's ratings are dropping significantly and NBC's new midseason shows are performing very unimpressively, I think NBC needs a little stability for their 2016-2017 season. And that stability is none other than The Mysteries of Laura. I have moved Laura up from "likely to be canceled" to "on the bubble." I think there definitely is a chance that Laura could get renewed, but I am not labeling it as a "likely" renewal because of its shortened season and the fact that NBC doesn't own it. As of right now, there's a 50/50 shot for Laura to come back. Stay tuned...

ANALYSIS
Game of Silence premiered to a 1.4 rating on Tuesday following a two-hour edition of The Voice. This modest rating showed a small amount of life in the show, but it quickly faltered when it dropped down to a 0.8 rating in its normal timeslot (Thursdays at 10/9c). NBC already has too many renewed dramas for this show to even be considered for renewal now, so it is immediately starting out as "certain to be canceled."
I have also moved Crowded from "certain" to "likely to be canceled." It had two mediocre airings this past Sunday (1.2, 1.0), so I have decided that there is still a small chance it could be renewed. Don't put your money on it, though.

CROWDED VS. TELENOVELA VS. UNDATEABLE
With Superstore renewed and The Carmichael Show likely to be renewed, how much room does NBC have for another veteran comedy next season? It is clear that the network wants to expand its comedy department since they ordered a wide variety of new pilots for the upcoming season, but do they want to use more than two veteran comedies to help them do so? Crowded, Telenovela, and Undateable are the other three comedies that haven't yet been renewed or canceled, so could one or more of them be renewed? For the purpose of this article, let's pretend that only one of them can get the renewal. The question is, however, which one would it be? Take a look at my reasons for renewal for each show down below:
Crowded
Owned by NBC
Highest 18-49 average out of the three shows (although it has aired less episodes and not by very much)
Doing OK for its timeslot, Sundays at 9:30, which is arguably the toughest slot out of the three comedies and has the highest competition (The Walking Dead)
Directed by James Burrows, could be renewed just because of his name
Telenovela
Owned by NBC
Stars Eva Longoria, the network might want to keep on good terms with the high-profile star
Up for Emmy considerations
Has a cast of all Latinos (diversity and minorities are key on TV nowadays)
Undateable
The true "veteran" of the three shows (three seasons under its belt as opposed to one for the other two); closest to syndication
Aired on Friday nights; lower expectations
Very cheap production costs
Arguably the most consistent and reliable performer

ANALYSIS
Crowded finally went fractional this week. With that being said, I have decided to move it down to "certain to be canceled," for it will most likely only go even more downhill from here. The reason Crowded skipped the "likely cancellation" phase is because, in a recently released interview with Campaign U.S. (link here), an NBC network president revealed that they will be ordering and trying out a wide variety of comedies next season. Therefore, there just won't be any room for Crowded (no pun intended) and its fractional ratings. I have also quietly moved Telenovela and Undateable down to "certain to be canceled" because of the new information revealed in the Campaign U.S. interview. Coming up next week: Undateable vs. Telenovela. If only one could get a renewal, which would it be? Find out my thoughts and more next Sunday!
