Rachel Maddow Show continues to deliver strong ratings for MSNBC. Its 0.59 average in A25-54 leads the week comfortably. Given this, MSNBC arguably should be doing better than it actually is. While the network has achieved newfound success, Maddow lead-out Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell loses a full two tenths, averaging a 0.39. 7pm’s The ReidOut and 8pm’s All In with Chris Hayes did slightly better than Last Word on average, yet both also paled compared to their time slot competition on CNN. It has been suggested before in this column that MSNBC experiment with moving Rachel Maddow Show to 8pm, giving the 9pm time slot to Chris Hayes or Joy Reid. Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell simply is not capitalizing on its lead-in.

The woes continue for Fox News. With the exception of Tucker Carlson Tonight, all of Fox News’ shows finish behind those on MSNBC. Carlson, meanwhile, edges out Last Word and All In but cannot compete with CNN. It was not long ago that Tucker Carlson Tonight and Hannity were the #1 and #2 programs every day. This week, Hannity came in 10th place in A25-54 on average, well behind time slot competitors Rachel Maddow Show (#1) and Cuomo Prime Time (#2). It still appears as though Fox News Primetime has put a dent in Newsmax TV, but for the most part is not competitive with The ReidOut or Erin Burnett OutFront. None of its airings placed in the top 50 daily cable programs this week.
