Friday TV Ratings 4/2/21: Blue Bloods Ties Shark Tank for the Win, MacGyver and The Blacklist Steady at Lows (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: It was a tight race for the #1 spot, but ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.6) and CBS's 'Blue Bloods' (0.6) ended up tying for first place. 'Shark Tank' held even on a week-to-week basis and led into a lower '20/20' (0.4) while 'Blue Bloods' led out of stable helpings of 'MacGyver' (0.4) and 'Magnum PI' (0.5). Fox was in the same ballpark as those two networks with 'WWE Smackdown' (0.5), the wrestling program ticked down from its last episode. NBC trailed the others as 'The Blacklist' (0.3) and 'Dateline' (0.3) remained deathly low. The CW had an encore of the 'Wipeout' reboot (0.1) and an original 'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' (0.1).

Thursday TV Ratings 3/25/21: Superstore Rises for Series Finale, Call Me Kat Slips for Finale, Greys Anatomy and Station 19 Tick Down (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: Cloud 9 permanently shut down last night, with the series finale of NBC sitcom 'Superstore' (0.5/0.5) tying its week-ago rating for an hour-long farewell. Compared to recent NBC series finales, 'The Good Place (0.7) had a minor uptick while 'Will & Grace' (0.5) actually lost a tenth. Although 'Superstore' limped to the finish line this past season, the series deservers major praise for consistently garnering strong numbers for the five years prior. A repeat of 'SVU' (0.4) and a steady 'Dateline' (0.4) closed out a quiet evening for the peacock network. On ABC, 'Station 19' (0.7) and 'Grey's Anatomy' (0.9) shed a tenth apiece, but 'A Million Little Things' clung to last week's 0.5 rating in the 10pm slot. Fox's 'Hell's Kitchen' (0.8) remained in season high territory, but the 'Call Me Kat' finale (0.5) and 'Last Man Standing' (0.4) lost a tick. While a decline on finale night doesn't bode well for 'Kat', it did manage to avoid matching its low or creating a new one. CBS had encores of 'Young Sheldon' (0.4), 'B Positive' (0.4), 'Mom' (0.4), 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (0.3), and 'Clarice' (0.2). The CW had a 'Harry & Meghan' special (0.1) that couldn't hold a candle to their Oprah interview from early March. The royal dud was followed by a stable 'Legacies' (0.1).

Friday TV Ratings 11/20/20: Shark Tank Slips but Stays on Top, 20/20 Also Down (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.7) lost a tenth from its last episode but was the #1 program of night once again. A Breonna Taylor-based '20/20' (0.5) also shed a tenth from last week. Fox slid into second place with another stable broadcast of 'WWE Smackdown' (0.6). NBC's 'The Blacklist' (0.4) held even with its week-ago premiere while 'Dateline' (0.5) inched up. CBS had 0.3s across the board with repeats of 'MacGyver', 'Magnum PI', and 'Blue Bloods'. The CW had another double-pump of 'Masters of Illusion' (0.1/0.1) and 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.1/0.1). 

Finals Update: Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.7, +0.1) and ABC's '20/20' (0.6, +0.1) adjusted up. 

Friday TV Ratings 11/13/20: The Blacklist Premieres Down and Low, Shark Tank Wins the Night (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: After last week's poor performance at 10pm, ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.7) returned to the 8pm slot and shot back up to the top of the pack. 'Tank' went three-tenths above its last episode (0.4) and matched its performance from two weeks ago. Lead-out '20/20' (0.6) returned a tenth higher than its previous installment at 10pm. Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.6) settled for second place this time around, falling a tenth of a point from its week-ago broadcast. NBC sauntered into third with a lackluster return for longtime crime drama 'The Blacklist' (0.4). The James Spader series was was one-tenth below last year's debut (0.5) and tied its series low. 'Dateline' (0.4) matched 'Blacklist' at 10pm. CBS's 'Undercover Boss' (0.3) held even at 9pm, leading out of a 'MacGyver' (0.3) repeat and into a 'Blue Bloods' encore (0.3). The CW had an 'iHeartRadio Music Festival' (0.1) but forgot to send out the invitations.

Friday TV Ratings 10/30/20: WWE SmackDown and Shark Tank Lead, Greatest #AtHome Videos Steady After Week Off (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: On another tepid Friday night, ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.6) and Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.6) tied for the top program once more. 'Tank' held even with last week while 'WWE' was also steady when compared to its previous installment. The alphabet network completed its night with '20/20' (0.5), the longtime newsmagazine rose a tenth from its week-ago outing. CBS had a stable 'The Greatest #AtHome Videos' (0.4) but lost momentum as the night went on, getting little mileage out of a 'The Deciders' special (0.2) and a 'Blue Bloods' repeat (0.2). A repeat of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.3) and an original 'Dateline' (0.4) both matched what they garnered last week on NBC. The CW had a Halloween-themed '13 Scariest Movies of All Time' special (0.2) and a double-pump of 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.1/0.1).
