The Endgame Canceled After One Season

The Endgame has reached its end, as NBC has canceled the series after just one season. The show debuted to decent ratings in late February, but quickly dropped in the coming weeks and ultimately became NBC's lowest-rated show with just a 0.27 seasonal average. The show was part of a disastrous Monday night spring lineup with American Song Contest, a lineup that consistently saw NBC rank last among the Big Four networks on the night. It becomes one in a long line of Monday at 10 drama flops on NBC, and the second this season, following the previously-canceled Ordinary Joe. Morena Baccarin, Ryan Michelle Bathe, Costa Ronin and Mark Damon Espinoza starred in the series. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.

Monday TV Ratings 5/2/22: American Idol Slips for Reunion Special, NCIS and Bob Hearts Abishola Rise, Shark Tank Slightly Up on Special Night, 9-1-1 Leads (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'American Idol: The Great Idol Reunion' special (0.68) was four-hundredths lower than last Monday's 'Idol' and failed to top the evening like it often does. An out-of-timeslot 'Shark Tank' (0.53) and rising 'Good Doctor' (0.41, +0.02) filled out the remainder of the night for the alphabet network. CBS saw major improvements as 'NCIS' (0.55, +0.12) and 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (0.52, +0.08) posted strong gains while 'The Neighborhood' (0.62, +0.03) and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.43, +0.04) grew at more modest rates. 'American Song Contest' (0.28, +0.01) picked up a hundredth on NBC as 'The Endgame' (0.20, -0.04) slipped for its finale. Fox's '9-1-1' (0.70, +0.02) rose by two-hundredths and was also the highest-rated program of the night. Despite that rise, '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.51, -0.11) dropped by more than a full tenth. On the CW, 'All American' (0.12, -0.02) shed two-hundredths as 'All American: Homecoming' (0.10) tied its week-ago delivery.

Finals Update: 'American Idol: The Great Idol Reunion' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Monday TV Ratings 4/25/22: 9-1-1: Lone Star and American Idol Rise, 9-1-1 Stable, The Price Is Right At Night Solid

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'American Idol' (0.72, +0.10) grew by a full tenth when stacked up against last Monday and managed to top the evening. That strong lead-in was essentially wasted on a 10PM rerun of 'The Good Doctor' (0.22). Fox drama '9-1-1' (0.68) tied its last outing as '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.62, +0.04) gained four-hundredths. CBS's 'The Price Is Right At Night' (0.61, +0.08) was up by eight-hundredths from the installment that aired on Valentine's Day (0.53) and led into encores of 'NCIS' (0.31) and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.25). 'American Song Contest' (0.27) didn't budge on NBC, but 'The Endgame' (0.24, +0.06) picked up six-hundredths. 'All American' (0.14, +0.01) and 'All American: Homecoming' (0.10, +0.01) each rose by a hundredth on the CW.

Finals Update: 'American Idol' (+0.1), '9-1-1' (+0.1), and the rerun of 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Monday TV Ratings 4/18/22: NCIS and Bob Hearts Abishola Hit New Lows, American Idol Also Slips (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: It was an alarming night on CBS as sitcom 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (0.44, -0.08) and drama staple 'NCIS' (0.43, -0.11) both collapsed to new series lows. 'The Neighborhood' (0.59, -0.04) and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.39, -0.10) also crashed at 8 and 10 respectively. ABC's 'American Idol' (0.62) was six-hundredths shy of last Monday as 'The Good Doctor' (0.39) matched its week-ago outing. Dramas '9-1-1' (0.68, +0.06) and '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.58, +0.13) surged on Fox, with '9-1-1' topping the night altogether due to the 'Idol' slippage. The CW's 'All American' (0.13, +0.03) and spinoff series 'All American: Homecoming' (0.09, +0.02) rose alongside the '9-1-1' pair. NBC's 'American Song Contest' (0.27, -0.01) and 'The Endgame' (0.18, -0.03) inched down to new lows.

Finals Update: '9-1-1' (+0.1) and '9-1-1: Lone Star' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Monday TV Ratings 4/11/22: CMT Awards Solid for CBS, 9-1-1 and American Song Contest Slip (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: The '2022 CMT Music Awards' (0.67) proved to be a legitimate success for CBS and outrated the last episodes of the network's typical Monday lineup (0.63/0.52/0.54/0.49). 'American Idol' (0.68) fended off the 'CMT Music Awards' by a single hundredth but was five-hundredths below Sunday's broadcast. ABC closed out their evening with a rising edition of 'The Great Doctor' (0.39, +0.02). '9-1-1' (0.62, -0.07) and '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.45, -0.05) slipped to new series lows on Fox, as did 'All American' (0.10, -0.06) and 'All American: Homecoming' (0.07, -0.04) on the CW. NBC's 'American Song Contest' (0.28) held flat as 'The Endgame' (0.21, +0.01) picked up a hundredth.

Finals Update: 'American Idol' (+0.1), '2022 CMT Music Awards' (+0.1), and 'American Song Contest' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Ratings Analysis: After a mediocre launch last week, NBC's 'American Song Contest' (0.34, -0.15) completely collapsed for episode two and took 'The Endgame' (0.20, -0.07) down with it. 'Song Contest' lost over 30% from its premiere rating and was below every ABC, CBS, and Fox telecast. Dramas '9-1-1' (0.69, -0.09) and '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.50, -0.07) also suffered sizable hits on the Fox network. ABC had more positive news as both 'American Idol' (0.74, +0.01) and 'The Good Doctor' (0.44, +0.06) rose from their week-ago outings. On CBS, 'The Neighborhood' (0.63) held steady, 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (0.52, +0.01) gained a hundredth, and 'NCIS' (0.54, -0.01) lost one. 10PM drama 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.49, -0.03) did not benefit from having a crossover with its parent program. 'All American' (0.16, -0.01) and 'All American: Homecoming' (0.11, -0.02) dropped by a hundredth and two-hundredths respectively on the CW.

Finals Update: '9-1-1' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Ratings Analysis: NBC's 'American Song Contest' (0.49) failed to make much of an impression for its series premiere and found itself in a distant fourth-place in the 8PM timeslot. To make matters worse, 'The Endgame' (0.27, -0.06) lost six-hundredths and was dead-last at 10. On ABC, the first Monday edition of 'American Idol' (0.73) was eight-hundredths higher than Sunday's episode (0.65) but failed to top the night. Veteran drama 'The Good Doctor' (0.38, -0.06) tied its series low in the 10PM hour. Fox's '9-1-1' (0.78, -0.06) fell by six-hundredths for its spring premiere, but '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.57, +0.02) picked up two-hundredths in its move to the 9PM slot. 'The Neighborhood' (0.63, -0.01) and 'NCIS' (0.55, -0.01) lost a hundredth apiece as 'Bob Hearts Abisohla' (0.51, -0.09) dealt with a much steeper decline. At 10, 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.52, +0.06) climbed to its highest rating without a football lead-in. 'All American' (0.17) and 'All American: Homecoming' (0.13) were stable on the CW.

Finals Update: '9-1-1' (+0.1), 'American Song Contest' (+0.1), '9-1-1: Lone Star' (+0.1), and 'NCIS' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'The Bachelor' (1.11, +0.35) exploded to its highest rating of the season for its penultimate episode, but 'The Good Doctor' (0.44, +0.04) only grew by four-hundredths in the 10PM timeslot. On Fox, '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.55, -0.11) slipped to a new series low as 'The Cleaning Lady' (0.39, -0.05) tied its low for its season finale. NBC's 'America's Got Talent: Extreme' (0.46, -0.05) fell to its lowest rating on record for its finale, but 'The Endgame' (0.33, +0.07) bounced back at 10. 'NCIS' (0.56) and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.46) did not move in either direction. The CW's 'All American' (0.13) held even as 'All American: Homecoming' (0.13, -0.01) shed a single hundredth.

Finals Update: 'The Bachelor' (+0.1), '9-1-1: Lone Star' (+0.1), 'AGT: Extreme' (+0.1), 'NCIS' (+0.1), and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Ratings Analysis: 'The Bachelor' (0.86, +0.09) and 'The Good Doctor' (0.40, +0.02) were on the rise on ABC, with 'Bachelor' claiming the top spot as it often does. Fox's '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.66, +0.03) and 'The Cleaning Lady' (0.44, +0.05) also made some gains, as did CW dramas 'All American' (0.17, +0.03) and 'All American: Homecoming' (0.14, +0.04). CBS had rising editions of 'The Neighborhood' (0.63, +0.02), 'NCIS' (0.56, +0.04), and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.46, +0.11), but sitcom 'Bob Hearts Abioshla' (0.52, -0.03) lost three-hundredths at 8:30. On NBC, 'America's Got Talent: Extreme' (0.51, -0.01) and 'The Endgame' (0.26, -0.06) failed to recover from last week's devastating declines but did not drop by nearly as much this time around.

Finals Update: 'The Bachelor' (+0.2), '9-1-1: Lone Star' (+0.1), 'NCIS' (+0.1), 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (+0.1), and 'The Endgame' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Ratings Analysis: Coming off of a three-month hiatus, ABC's 'The Good Doctor' (0.38, -0.11) only managed to tie its series low and retained less than half of a rising edition of 'The Bachelor' (0.77, +0.10). Despite its tepid return, 'Good Doctor' more than doubled what 'Promised Land' (0.18) posted in its slot last week. On CBS, 'The Neighborhood' (0.61, -0.11), 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (0.55, -0.03), 'NCIS' (0.52, -0.09), and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.35, -0.12) all took a hit, with 'Hawai'i' sinking to a new series low. After posting some respectable ratings for their respective debuts, NBC's 'America's Got Talent: Extreme' (0.52, -0.19) and drama 'The Endgame' (0.32, -0.14) suffered the steepest drops of the night. Fox's '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.63, +0.05) rebounded a bit, but 'The Cleaning Lady' (0.39) held flat at its low. 'All American' (0.14, -0.03) and 'All American: Homecoming' (0.10, -0.04) declined by three-hundredths and four-hundredths respectively on the CW.

Finals Update: 'The Bachelor' (+0.1), 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (+0.1), and 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Ratings Analysis: Though its post-'Olympics' preview (0.50) was fairly mediocre, NBC's 'America's Got Talent: Extreme' (0.71) turned out to be a solid edition to the network's lineup and topped the evening for its first official episode. At 10, new drama 'The Endgame' (0.46) definitely had some life in it on premiere night, retaining well over 60% of 'AGT: Extreme'. ABC's 'The Bachelor' (0.67, +0.02) settled for second place but still grew by two-hundredths on a week-to-week basis. At 10, flop drama 'Promised Land' (0.18, +0.03) rose a bit for its final ABC episode. The remaining five episodes of the series will air on the streaming service Hulu. Fox's lineup weakened some more as both '9-1-1: Lone Star' (0.58, -0.04) and 'The Cleaning Lady' (0.39, -0.05) posted new lows for the second week in a row. Airing behind reruns of 'The Neighborhood' (0.51) and 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (0.40), CBS's 'Celebrity Big Brother' (0.41, -0.09) dropped by a little less than a tenth. Fresh off of a two-month hiatus, The CW's 'All American' (0.17, -0.07) came back seven-hundredths lower than its winter finale (0.24). At 9, spinoff series 'All American: Homecoming' (0.14) got off to a middling start.

Finals Update: 'The Bachelor' (+0.1), '9-1-1: Lone Star' (+0.1), and 'The Endgame' (+0.1) adjusted up.
