Friday TV Ratings 6/10/22: Charmed Ends Steady, NBA Finals Inches Down for Game 4, Come Dance With Me Rises (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Game four of the 'NBA Finals' (3.63, -0.02) dropped by two-hundredths in the Adults 18-49 demographic and tied the 2022 low set by game one (3.63). Though it went below the second (3.71) and third (3.65) games in the Nielsen ratings department, this was actually the most-watched of the four in terms of total viewership and the first to cross the 12 million mark. Before the game, ABC had its usual duo of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night' (0.46, -0.05) and 'NBA Countdown' (0.82, -0.02). These two also experienced some minor slippage but still eclipsed everything on the other networks. On Fox, 'WWE Smackdown' (0.44, -0.03) lost three-hundredths in the face of legitimate competition. CBS series 'Come Dance With Me' (0.20, +0.02) recovered a bit from last week's fall and led into encores of 'Magnum PI' (0.17) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.21). NBC went with a repeat of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.23) and a rising 'Dateline' (0.40, +0.12). The CW's 'Charmed' (0.07) held steady on series finale night and was followed by reruns of 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.06/0.05).

Finals Update: Game 4 of the 'NBA Finals' (+1.3) and a repeat of 'Magnum PI' (+0.1) adjusted up. 'Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night' (-0.6), 'NBA Countdown' (-0.2), and the rerun of 'American Ninja Warrior' (-0.1) adjusted down. The chart below reflects these changes.

The end has arrived for this season, and all of The CW's renewals and cancellations have been announced. That means it's time for me to take a look back at the season that was, discussing my hits and misses and thoughts on the future of a network entering an era of change.

Friday TV Ratings 6/3/22: WWE SmackDown Leads Quiet Night, Charmed and Dynasty Post Small Gains (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Fox's 'WWE SmackDown' (0.47, +0.04) rose by four-hundredths and reigned victorious on a very quiet Friday evening. ABC's rerun of 'Shark Tank' (0.38) and '20/20' (0.46) were close behind but neither could beat out the wrestling program. Though it was starting to look a little healthier in the past two weeks, CBS's 'Come Dance With Me' (0.18, -0.07) plunged to a new series low in the 8PM timeslot. Repeats of 'Magnum PI' (0.17) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.21) filled out the rest of CBS's evening. NBC had a modest rerun of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.21) and a passable 'Dateline' (0.28). On the CW, 'Charmed' (0.07, +0.02) and 'Dynasty' (0.04, +0.01) rose ever so slightly.

Friday TV Ratings 5/27/22: The Blacklist Inches Up for Finale, WWE SmackDown Leads (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: NBC drama 'The Blacklist' (0.24, +0.01) wrapped up its ninth season with a predictably meager rating but at least managed to scrape together an extra hundredth for said season finale. The 'Dateline' rerun (0.29) that came after 'Blacklist' ended up growing from it by five-hundredths. ABC's 'Together As One' Soul of a Nation special about Asian-Americans (0.27) was unremarkable in the 8PM hour and lost out to the '20/20' encore (0.28) that followed it. 'Come Dance With Me' (0.25, -0.01) shed a single hundredth on CBS and led into weakened repeats of 'Magnum PI' (0.19) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.21). On Fox, 'WWE Smackdown' (0.43, -0.02) was two-hundredths lower than last week but easily topped the night. The CW's 'Charmed' (0.05, -0.01) dropped by a hundredth as 'Dynasty' (0.03) tied its week-ago broadcast. 

Finals Update: 'Together As One' (+0.1) and repeats of 'Dateline NBC' (+0.1) and '20/20' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Friday TV Ratings 5/20/22: Shark Tank Up for Finale, The Blacklist and WWE SmackDown Also Rise, 20/20 Steady (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.48, +0.03) swam to the top of the Friday night roster as it often does and rose by three-hundredths for its season finale. '20/20' (0.35) was unable to join 'Tank' at the top but held steady with its week-ago broadcast. NBC's 'The Blacklist' (0.23, +0.01) and 'Dateline' (0.34, +0.03) were also on the rise, as was CBS's 'Come Dance With Me' (0.26, +0.05). 'Dance' climbed to its highest rating since late April and led into reruns of 'Magnum PI' (0.20) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.25). Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.45, +0.05) grew by five-hundredths but still settled for the #2 spot of the night. 'Charmed' (0.06, -0.01) and 'Dynasty' (0.03, -0.01) lost a hundredth apiece on the CW.
