Despite the poor ratings, a spinoff was still in development this season, though CBS passed on that project two weeks ago. Like several other canceled CBS series this season, The Equalizer was a co-production, with NBCUniversal producing the series alongside CBS Studios. CBS and Universal were said to be in negotiations for a 13-episode final season, but they were unable to come to an agreement, resulting in the show's cancellation after a 74-episode run.
