Match Game: ABC's only "new " addition to their summer lineup ended its eight-episode run with a 0.27 average in the end, drawing average ratings for its finale, even as it moved up to 8 PM. It didn't live up to the potential it showed on premiere night, but it stayed in mostly respectable territory, and should still be able to earn a renewal. The first ABC Match Game revival wasn't a smash hit either, and this version looks like it can fill that same utility player role for ABC for another season or so. I don't think it's in tremendous danger, despite ABC cracking down on summer programming as of late, and it'll remain in the LEANS RENEWAL category to end the season.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: The last time I wrote this column, it was to upgrade this show to certain renewal status, due to its strong performance this season. That part has not changed. It averaged a 0.34 rating in the key 18-49 demo, steady with last season. However, there are outside forces at play here. Last week, as you've likely heard, ABC yanked Jimmy Kimmel Live from the schedule indefinitely over controversial comments, following threats by Nexstar and Sinclair to preempt the program. Yes, that is a separate show, but it shares host Jimmy Kimmel with Millionaire, and Kimmel's relationship with ABC and Disney is surely not in the greatest of places at this moment. While Millionaire has been a solid performer, and could easily change hosts in the event that ABC and Kimmel part ways permanently, this adds an unnecessary wrinkle to Millionaire's renewal chances this year. While the Kimmel talk show is what's at the center of the controversy, be hard for them to make any decision on Millionaire's fate that doesn't feel like some sort of a political statement, putting them in a tricky place. It's very possible that the show is simply shelved, as it was in the past, despite being a very solid performer for ABC. It's also possible that this all blows over and Kimmel can go back to work fairly soon, and none of this impacts Millionaire at all. It is important to note that, despite the Kimmel controversy, ABC is planning to air Millionaire's finale next Thursday. That's potentially a positive sign for it, but it doesn't mean they'll commit to ordering and filming a whole new season. Out of an abundance of caution, I'm downgrading Millionaire to LEANS RENEWAL.

The 1% Club: No summer show on Fox is a bona fide hit, but The 1% Club sure did look solid in the tail end of this season. It hit some of its highest data points of the season when it was doubled up, including a season's best 0.25 for the 8 PM hour on finale night. It looked like a safe bet to return all season (Fox sure loves them some Joel McHale), but it solidified its case at the end of the season, performing better than even MasterChef in the last few weeks. It ends the season just a hundredth away from being Fox's #1 summer show (and unlike all the other networks, Fox actually has a large enough summer roster for this to be considered somewhat of an accomplishment). It's an incredibly commendable feat for a show that really defied the odds to even make it to a second season, given that it was originally produced by Amazon for Prime Video, who dumped the show. Fox was only its second window home, saw enough value in it to give it a second chance, and will very likely give it a third season. It's a LIKELY RENEWAL.
