'The Night Shift' Canceled After Four Seasons

NBC has canceled veteran series 'The Night Shift' after four seasons. The medical drama followed the night-to-night lives of the doctors who worked on the night shift at the San Antonio Memorial Hospital. Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Robert Bailey Jr, JR Lemon, and Tanaya Beatty made up the main cast. The fourth season of the series had a dismal debut with just a 0.6 in the lucrative 18-49 demographic. While it did rise in the following weeks, the numbers were still too low. This was a correct prediction by the TVRatingsGuide.

The Night Shift Renewed by NBC

NBC has finally remembered that The Night Shift is a show that exists, and they have renewed it for a fourth season. This comes two and a half months after the Night Shift's season 3 finale. The series has done well for NBC as a summer series, and this was a correct prediction for the TV Ratings Guide.

This seems to be a good day for summer shows, as Match Game and To Tell The Truth also received good news today.

The Night Shift Premieres Wednesday, July 1st (UPDATED AGAIN)

Per TVLine, NBC will premiere the third season of medical drama The Night Shift on Wednesday, July 1st, following American Ninja Warrior. It's now unclear where Strong, NBC's new physical fitness competition show coming from a producer of American Ninja Warrior, will air. After an underwhelming first season behind America's Got Talent, and an even more underwhelming second
season behind The Voice, NBC seemingly is giving The Night Shift a third chance to prove itself behind one of the highest-rated lead-ins they have to offer.

What do you think of this (somewhat surprisingly real) news? Let us know in the comments below!

UPDATE: Strong, now named Spartan, will premiere in its regular time slot of Thursday at 9 on June 23rd, following a couple post-Ninja Warrior "previews".

UPDATED AGAIN: Strong premiers April 13th. Sorry for the confusion everyone.
