Love Is Canceled by OWN Despite Prior Renewal

Despite previously being renewed, Love Is has now been axed by OWN. The reason for the decision reversal is abuse claims against the show's executive producer, Salim Akil. While an investigation by Warner Bros. found no evidence of misconduct on the set of the show, the executives at OWN felt that the show, which is based on Akil's relationship with his wife and fellow EP, Mara Brock Akil, was compromised by the claims of abuse. The show starred Michele Weaver and Will Catlett, and was set in both the present and 20 years in the past.
