Friday TV Ratings 6/7/24: Daytime Emmys Rise from 2023 Ceremony, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune Repeat Strong [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (0.25) were a full tenth higher than the 50th ceremony (0.15) that aired back in December but only managed a 3rd place finish in the 8 p.m. time slot. CBS followed the Emmy Awards with a rerun of Blue Bloods (0.15). Fox's WWE Smackdown (0.61, -0.04) slipped but held onto its position as top-rated program of the night. ABC had another strong Celebrity Wheel of Fortune encore (0.37) and followed that with a solid 20/20 (0.30, -0.01). NBC's Dateline (0.27, +0.03) increased in size and more than doubled the Night Court reruns (0.12/0.12) that led into it. On the CW, 100 Days to Indy (0.03, +0.01) ticked up for its season finale.

Friday TV Ratings 12/15/23: National Christmas Tree Lighting and Daytime Emmy Awards Low, WWE SmackDown and Shark Tank Slip (UPDATED w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: Few tuned into CBS on Friday night as neither a broadcast of the National Christmas Tree Lighting (0.18) nor a showing of The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (0.15) impressed in the Adults 18-49 demographic. Fox's WWE Smackdown (0.55, -0.08) and ABC's Shark Tank (0.34, -0.02) weakened but remained at the top of the pack. 20/20 (0.26, -0.07) also slid but was well above NBC's Dateline (0.17, -0.04). The peacock network also had a rerun of Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors (0.23). The CW had a Hollywood Christmas Parade (0.06) but forgot to send the invitations.

Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary rounded rating.

Friday TV Ratings 6/24/22: Daytime Emmys Low, Stanley Cup Rises for Game 5, WWE Smackdown Slips (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: The '49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards' (0.21) lost two-hundredths when compared to the 48th ceremony (0.23) and did little to boost CBS's Friday night lineup. Earlier in the night, 'Come Dance With Me' (0.20, +0.02) grew by two-hundredths for its season finale. Game 5 of the '2022 Stanley Cup Finals' (1.49, +0.18) impressed on ABC and rose by nearly two-tenths from the previous one. Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.53, -0.04) declined by four-hundredths but was still the strongest broadcast outside of the 'Stanley Cup'. NBC got 0.3s from reruns of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.26) and 'Dateline NBC' (0.31). The CW's 'Dynasty' (0.03, -0.01) shed a hundredth and trailed the encore of 'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' (0.08) that led into it.

Finals Update: '2022 Stanley Cup Game 5' (+0.7) and the repeat of 'American Ninja Warrior' (+0.1) adjusted up. 'Dynasty' (-0.1) adjusted down.

Friday TV Ratings 6/25/21: Daytime Emmys Abysmal, Olympic Gymnastic Trials Easily Lead (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: NBC's broadcast of the 'Olympic Gymnastics Trials' (0.7) managed to bring back some life to Friday nights. The 'Trials' telecast topped usual champion 'WWE Smackdown' (0.5), the latter of which was steady with last week on Fox. A 10pm 'Dateline' original (0.5) noticeably benefited from the stronger 'Olympics' lead-in. On ABC, 'Emergency Call' (0.3) was on-par with its previous episode and led into a '20/20' encore (0.3). CBS's showing of the '48th Daytime Emmy Awards' (0.2) completely tanked at 8, even by Friday standards. A repeat of 'Blue Bloods' (0.2) matched the ceremony at 10. 'Charmed' (0.1) and 'Dynasty' (0.1) posted the same rating as the week prior on the CW.

Finals Update: US Olympic Gymnastics Trials (+0.1) and Emergency Call (+0.1) adjusted up. Dateline NBC (-0.1) adjusted down.
