CBS Renew/Cancel: 'Doubt' Disappears

Welcome to the second edition of the TV Ratings Guide's CBS Renew/Cancel Watch. All scripted, primetime shows are included in the prediction table below once they have premiered for the season. An analysis of any new prediction changes or observations follows. My current predictions are as of February 24, 2017.

The key to the right indicates which colors are associated with each prediction. The data in the table includes season lows, highs, and averages (Adults 18-49 demo), as well as the year-to-year changes for returning shows that have not already been officially renewed or canceled. These are provided for reasoning with and understanding my predictions. The shows are ordered by their season averages against only other scripted CBS shows.

Doubt dropped two tenths from its premiere to a 0.6 rating in the key demo on Wednesday night. This prompted CBS to drop it from the schedule effectively immediately, with the second season of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders set to take over the 10:00 slot on Wednesdays in two weeks. While it's not a completely official cancellation, it's as clear as it gets that CBS is done with the series after two very poor results and a 0.68 average. As such, I'm downgrading Doubt from Likely to be Canceled to Already Canceled in the table. This is the first show to get this classification this season for CBS and makes a correct prediction for the CBS Renew/Cancel.

2016-2017 TV Season: What We Already Know
Son of Zorn
Source: Nerdist
It's only January 2016, yet there are already several shows that have been ordered to series, usually as a blind commitment, which is always very risky. So here's what we know so far on what's not returning and what could replace them.

Shows Already Ordered to Series

Show Network Genre Description
Designated Survivor ABC Drama Kiefer Sutherland-led, about a low-level government Cabinet member who becomes President after a mass shooting of everyone above him in line
Untitled Kevin James CBS Multi-Cam Comedy Kevin James as a retired policeman who now has to juggle his family life
Untitled Star Trek CBS All-Access Sci-Fi Drama Not much yet other than that it takes place in the Star Trek Universe and introduce new characters
Shots Fired FOX Limited Series Drama About racial shootings in Tennessee and its media attention, starring Sanaa Lathan as an investigator in the Department of Justice
Son of Zorn FOX Live Action/Animated Hybrid Jason Sudeikis voices an animated warrior who simultaneously juggles an office job, a war on another planet, and reconnecting with his human ex-wife and son
Emerald City NBC Fantasy Drama OK, technically this Wizard of Oz adaption show was uncanceled from a previous development cycle, but will not air until fall 2016.
Good Place NBC Single-Cam Comedy Kristen Bell stars as a woman from New Jersey who decides that she is a bad person. Ted Danson stars as her unlikely guide/life advisor.
Patient Zero NBC Drama About a woman with unknown symptoms and an FBI agent who is investigating a terrorist attack that may or may not be related
Taken NBC Drama Described as a prequel to the movie series

In addition, FOX has announced that pilot Urban Cowboy will not go forward, and that Prison Break and 24 will both see revivals.
