Shark Week 2025: Complete Ratings for Every Discovery Channel Special

The annual summer tradition has returned, as Discovery Channel has brought back its week-long celebration of sharks for a 37th year, having first begun in 1988 and continued every year since. Ratings have been on the lower side in recent years, with the 2024 edition clocking in at a 0.15 average - about 40% lower than 2023. With roughly half of the week's ratings in so far, Shark Week 2025 is down over 30%. It has repeatedly matched its all-time 18-49 demo low of 0.07 this year, but has thus far avoided matching its all-time viewership low set in 2024 (0.29 million). Shark Week 2024: Complete Ratings for Every Discovery Channel Special

Since 1988, Shark Week has been a beloved summer tradition on Discovery Channel, with seven straight days of programming entirely dedicated to the most feared of ocean predators. Three hours of new shows tend to air each night in primetime on what is traditionally Discovery's highest-rated week of the year. Last year's series of specials reached a high of 0.44 in the key 18-49 demo for "Jaws vs The Meg," a special that aired on the first night of Shark Week, which tends to attract the highest interest. It reached a low of 0.13 for Friday night special Deadly Sharks of Paradise, an all-time low for Shark Week. The 2023 edition averaged 0.26 overall, a 15% increase from 2023. This year, Shark Week launched to an average of 0.19 on Sunday night, a decline of over 50% from the opening night of Shark Week 2023. Below, you can see the ratings for all of this year's specials:
