EXT. HIGH SCHOOL - DAY
A new school year begins.
A school sits in the northwestern part of West Hartford, Connecticut.
Students are congregating near the entrance.
EXT. HIGH SCHOOL ENTRANCE - DAY
TERRI, 16 going on 17, paces up the steps.
She sighs. What could possibly go wrong?
She then stops, opens the door, and walks inside.
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY
Terri pauses, once inside.
TERRI
S***! What now?
From the corner of the hallway, NATASHA, 17, laughs as she walks by.
Terri waves hello to her, and sighs.
Natasha continues to walk on by as if nothing is going on.
KATIE, 16, hair short and heels as high as they can go without breaking legs, carefully walks towards Terri.
KATIE
I’m sensing the nuclear treatment.
Terri, confused as all get out, turns to look at Katie.
TERRI
I don’t know what her problem is. There’s gotta be a reason to all this.
KATIE
Ugh, drama. Always in the middle of it.
TERRI
The mature thing to do is just to play it cool. Don’t want to get in trouble with your principal mom especially after last year.
Katie chuckles.
The morning bell rings.
Terri and Katie check schedules and head to homeroom before first period.
INT. ENGLISH CLASSROOM - DAY
SUPER: FIVE MINUTES LATER
As usual, Katie and Terri sit next to each other. The unusual, Cassidy and Abigail sit behind.
Abigail motions Terri to an unknown substance.
ABIGAIL
This is a packet of MDMA.
TERRI
Isn’t that illegal to be carrying it around?
ABIGAIL
I’m turning it in to the principal after homeroom.
CASSIDY
But we don’t know who dropped it, per se.
KATIE
Let me have a look. Something is not right here.
Katie then takes the packet.
She closely examines it.
KATIE (CONT'D)
Looks like it’s definitely MDMA. Carefully concealed.
Cassidy nods.
CASSIDY
Let’s go ahead and turn it in now before Coach takes it.
The bell rings.
TERRI
It’s the first period bell. If we hurry now, we can…
Natasha suddenly rushes.
NATASHA
What the f*** are you doing with the drugs I thought I hid?
Silence.
Terri looks at Natasha as she attempts to walk towards her.
Katie stops her.
KATIE
You don’t look so good.
NATASHA
I actually feel great.
ABIGAIL
You don’t realize you’re going to get in serious trouble with these?
NATASHA
I don’t care.
KATIE
Let’s call an intervention right now. I don’t care if I miss class.
