Monday TV Ratings 9/24/18: Manifest Grows On The Voice, Everything Else Disappoints (UPDATED)

It was the first day of the new broadcast season, and the ratings sure didn't show it, did they? It was a disappointing night across the boards, as many. Shows returned below their previous lows and even made new ones. One of those shows that made a new low was CBS's Bull, which not only sank to a new low on its new night, but was actually fractional for its premiere with a 0.8 for its second half. Not a promisting start. But it makes sense, considering that the other CBS shows didn't set the world on fire either. The Sheldon duo started the night down nearly 50%, with a 2.4 for The Big Bang Theory (near the previous season low) and a 1.7 for Young Sheldon (below the previous season low). It's not a promising sign for the Thursday ratings, but it was still enough to make them some of the highest-rated programs of the night. Behind them, Magnum PI was down enormously from last year's timeslot occupants, comedies Kevin Can Wait and Me Myself & I (We know how they turned out), with a 1.2 start that doesn't give much hope for its longevity. Over on ABC, Dancing With the Stars premiered with similar ratings to its Athletes season from this spring, pending adjustments (ABC was preempted in one market), while The Good Doctor premiered down from its season finale and only slightly above its series low, which it may tie come finals. Fox had an OK night, with a disappointing result from 9-1-1, which didn't benefit from the NFL lead-in on Sunday and only nearly tied its season one average. The Resident, 9-1-1's lead-in, actually manged to have a solid trend relative to its average and finale, with a 1.1. It's not the best rating, but it's one of the night's least-surprising. It was NBC that easily had the best night. While The Voice was down majorly from last year, it had a nice #3 finish for the night. But the really impressive part was Manifest, which grew on The Voice by two tenths and blew the rest of its drama competition out of the water. It's the only slot on the Big 3 up from last year, growing nine tenths on last year's flop NBC drama, The Brave.

Finals Update: The Big Bang Theory (+0.1) adjusted up. Dancing With the Stars (-0.1) and The Good Doctor (-0.1) adjusted down.
