The Bullpen Season 5 Episode 13: Bullpen Cameras

MANNY, ROBERT, LORENZO, BRYAN, ACE, VICTOR, and HARRY are all in the Indianapolis Primitives bullpen. They are sitting in the grass. Three people approach them.

ROBERT

Wonder what this will be about.

LORENZO

Maybe they’re trying to run a profile on us.

ROBERT

Highly doubt that.

MANNY

Alright, everyone be on your best behavior.

PERSON #1

Hello, nice to meet you.

HARRY

What do you want.

MANNY

Harry! Excuse him. What do you want, please?

PERSON #2

We’re here to install a few hidden cameras. Just ignore us, pretend we’re not here, and pretend there are no cameras.

ACE

What?! Why…

PERSON #2

Playoffs. Makes good TV.

PERSON #1

That and the dugout wouldn’t let us.

VICTOR

You know people don’t act naturally when they know the cameras are on them, right?

PERSON #3

Perfect.

BRYAN

Is this even legal?

PERSON #2

Why wouldn’t it be?

MANNY

What are you gonna do with this footage?

PERSON #3

Show it on TV, have the announcers talk about it, laugh about it, you know just to fill time when the actual game gets boring.

The three people finish installing the hidden cameras and leave.

VICTOR

I’m getting some real stage fright.

ROBERT

I brought a tennis ball if anyone wants to catch for me?

MANNY

That’s one way to get around our self-instated ban on baseballs. Well done.

ACE

Baseball is so boring sometimes.

BRYAN

What do you mean? This is fun, sitting here in the grass, watching other people play.

ACE

There’s nothing happening in this game right now, what’s so special about watching people throw a ball and other people try and fail to hit it. If you get on base 30 percent of the time you’re considered good, it’s a joke.

VICTOR

As someone who used to play second base before I came to this team, I see what you mean. I mostly just stood there in the off-chance the ball actually came to me.

ROBERT

And ultimately you have to run around in a square. If you score, you end up in the same place you started.

LORENZO

Not to mention you have to run to the bases!

ROBERT

Well, technically you don’t HAVE to run. You’d just be out every time if you didn’t.

LORENZO

It just sounds exhausting.

MANNY

Try being a manager. There are so many people you have to keep in line and it never feels like you have control.

HARRY

And it takes forever and teams only score a handful of runs at most. The pace is painfully slow.

BRYAN

Anyone want to see us on TV?! I’ll stream the game on my phone!

MANNY

Sure.

BRYAN takes out his phone and starts to stream the baseball game. Soon after the coverage cuts to the bullpen.

BRYAN

Guys! We’re on TV! Everyone wave!

BRYAN stares silently in shock, realizing he also heard his voice through his voice.

BRYAN

Uh…guys? I think there are hidden mics here too. They may have picked up us talking.

ROBERT

Are you serious?

MANNY

Everyone get out of here, you have my permission!

Everyone leaves.
