UnREAL S3E2 Review

Welcome to another week of UnREAL, and episode 2 is in our midst. Whoa folks, I think it's time to get to the episode. We are continuing to sell true love, people!

3x02 - "Shield"
The episode starts with mansplaining Chet and a poker game in the first 15 minutes. But first, an important quote: "Sex is a lie...if you waver even once, you're not ready to take the next step in your conviction."

Rachel's self-help quotes continue, and then we flash forward into the poker game of a lifetime. Chet mansplains, like I said, and it seems like Rachel and Quinn are super done with him. Rachel is not liking how everything is turning on Everlasting. Quinn and Rachel argue ("If this is what you want, you can just produce it yourself.")

Then a karaoke contest goes wrong, and catfights ensue with the men. Quinn then commands a producer to get a camera on the moment when one of the guys lifts Serena off of her feet. Quinn then manages to celebrate, to network executive Gary's dismay.

Quinn and Rachel have a second argument, and to Rachel's dismay, was sent out of Quinn's house. This is going to be rough, folks!

During the elimination ceremony, Billy gets picked as the last guy to move on to the next week, and to his dismay, Serena tells him, "Don't get your hopes up." You go, girl!

During the last few minutes, Rachel is with an Australian contestant laying next to him in the hammock, then Quinn catches him alone. The last scene gets a little too hot for television -- self sabotage.

Grade: 8.5/10
I was a little underwhelmed with this episode. Honestly, I did not expect two arguments to come out of Quinn and Rachel. I'm starting to like Serena a little more now after she throws shade at the last guy standing. And, oh the mansplaining. Plus it seems like the Australian dude will be this season's Adam/Coleman with a twist. I hope next episode is a little better.

UnREAL S3E1 Review

Hello, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to a brand new season of UnREAL, and we are going for the gusto, folks! When we last reviewed UnREAL, it was the summer of 2016, and the finale was as explosive as it can get. Jeremy killed two enemies to protect ex-girlfriend Rachel and showrunner Quinn, but they seemed to be fine with the bloodshed. This season, we are spilling the tea with the first female bachelorette Everlasting has ever had, and she's a female Elon Musk. But enough of my quips, let's get on with the episode.

3x01 - "Oath"
It's been six months since the events of the season 2 finale. Rachel did some soul searching on a farm, Quinn has been trying to pick up the pieces of her career, Jeremy went to rehab and anger management, and Chet has picked up a new 20-something model to be his girlfriend.

This time around, when Chet and Quinn pitch a new season of Everlasting, the suitor -- or rather suitress -- is an Elon Musk-type female tech-mogul named Serena who has represented the many women who have sacrificed personal time for professional success. At the office, Chet pricks Rachel with a random pricking device, twice, as if to take an oath.

Let the games begin! 27 guys enter the mansion, and something bad is about to happen. Serena gets hammered, and Rachel finds her boning the jockey, instead of kissing the guy in a moment where we wonder whether consent is an issue. Poor Serena, she is totally clueless and has no idea what she signed up for. This gives me a flashback to last season's controversial taping shutdown of Bachelor in Paradise where Corinne and DeMario engaged in a drunken romp and the rest is history.

On with the elimination ceremony. Quinn's commentary was everything throughout this ceremony, and the shortest guy gets the ax. Then, here comes Chet vs. Quinn again over his young girlfriend Crystal. Also, at the end of the show, one of the guys prepares to sleep in the hammock when Rachel catches him. Rachel then rebuffs Jeremy's attempts to apologize. Jeremy revealed he did whatever he could to prevent her from going to jail and Jay stops this sweet moment. Rachel then asks him: "Are you there for me?"

And what is Madison doing fooling around with an older man? The episode ends with Quinn in the editing room, in an interesting fashion.

Grade: 9.5/10
I gotta admit, last season was pretty wild and pretty enjoyable. This season is beginning the same way, but compared to the second season, this is an improvement according to multiple critics. The only complaint I had against season 2 were that some of the storylines were unresolved -- police brutality, anyone? With this third season premiere, I am feeling underwhelmed with Serena so far, but it is too early to tell. I really liked Darius from last season and the result of the finale where he finally leaves dodge with Ruby. I hope Serena's character gets developed into the dynamic female character with heart and not just someone who is clueless.

UnREAL S2E10 (Season Finale) Review

Hey folks! It's Jessica. We made it to the season finale of UnREAL. It's about to get juicy, y'all! Here we go!

2x10 - "Friendly Fire"

Finally, the dark Coleman rises. Things start out with Coleman's things getting escorted outside by security, with the discovery that Wasserman's award-winning documentary was FAKE. As fake as a three dollar bill, plus a Wendigo on Supernatural. Coleman is basically Ruby in this scenario, who tries to take down two heroines. So Rachel and Quinn are the Sam and Dean in this story.

Coleman tries to recruit Jeremy to the exposé of Everlasting, and it seems as if Jeremy is going through with it. But soon Jeremy has a change of heart when Coleman reveals that Rachel was raped at twelve by one of her mother's patients. Jeremy then warns Rachel that Yael is going to go on live television to expose the show for causing the death of Mary. Ouch!

On the show within the show, Quinn has a master plan: to get both Tiffany and Chantal in wedding attire. What's better than one bride? Two brides! Darius apparently was not consulted about this. He decides not to marry either of the final two contestants. Then Ruby shows up, and it turns out to be a happy ending! Hooray for happy endings!

After filming the finale, Jeremy tries to get back with Rachel, who turns him down. As it seems like their fates will be in a prison cell, a stunning plot twist happens. Jeremy returns to the editing room and tells the gang, Chet included, that they won't have to worry about Yael and Coleman anymore. There were reports of a single car accident that clearly showed that Coleman's sportscar, with an Everlasting license place was reduced to ashes and dust. The jury is still out on the fates of Yael and Coleman, but I'm pretty sure they are dead. The ending scene showed Jeremy, Chet, Quinn, and Rachel sitting outside apparently contemplating what happens next.

That was an explosive finale, folks! I can't wait to see what season three holds.

UnREAL S2E9 Review

Hey folks. Welcome to another review for UnREAL. We made it to the penultimate episode, folks! It's pretty explosive drama wise.

2x09 - "Espionage"

The show was mostly Everlasting related. After Rachel finds out about Yael and Coleman, it looked like she was going to sabotage Quinn. But she didn't. Rachel finds out her phone was tapped into by Coleman and the conversation with Quinn about Mary plus Yael's diarrhea infused embarrassment was recorded. 

Darius eliminates Yael. The final two suitors are revealed to be Chantal and Tiffany. 

What the plot twist is: Coleman's plan is doomed. Rachel and Quinn make a pact at the end of the episode to take down Coleman. Watch the fireworks begin! 

This penultimate episode set some fireworks. I can't believe it's ending already. Don't forget to tune in for the season finale on Lifetime Monday at 10:00 pm ET/9:00 pm CT. 

UnREAL S2E8 Review

Hey folks! It's Jessica. It feels like a long time since I've watched an episode of UnREAL. With all the craziness of the TCAs, I decided to go ahead and binge-watch the last two episodes before the season two finale. I cannot believe it has come to this. Things are really heating up, and I'm excited to know what happens next.

2x08 - "Fugitive"

We finally know Yael's motives for being on Everlasting. She is a reporter looking to expose the show and bring it to its downfall. And she convinces ousted Coleman to go along with it. 

Coleman takes Rachel out of the hospital, and into his office, where she confesses that the show murdered Mary. I don't know about you, but something is rotten in the state of Denmark. 

Things between Quinn and her boyfriend hit a snag when he suggests that they should have children. This was a subplot in the episode that shows Quinn's vulnerability. I love the fact that she stood up to Rachel's mother. 

But what really hit the episode on home was when Rachel admits that she was raped as a child. Scandalous. But I have a bad feeling this could backfire big time. At the end of the episode, Coleman is seen talking to Yael. 

For the Everlasting part, Chantal wins the immunity challenge and votes with Yael and Jamison to send Tiffany home. But Darius turns things around by sending Jamison home, all because she is a cop. In addition, he chooses Tiffany to go on the date with him. Oooooooooooo....that's not going to go well with the Blue Lives Matter crowd, but it's UnREAL and the show is meant to push some buttons. 

I feel like the show is slowly revealing that Coleman is a douchebag. Quinn is back in the office, y'all! UnREAL is back to form. I can't wait to see how the rest unfolds.
