Thursday TV Ratings 8/22/24: Democratic National Convention Soars for Harris Acceptance Speech and Continues to Outpace RNC [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: On the fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention, ratings soared across the board. ABC's DNC broadcast (0.60, +0.19) was nearly two-tenths higher than it was on night three, and NBC (0.48, +0.14) had a similar-sized bump. CBS (0.34, +0.05) remained in third. In the 8 p.m. hour, CBS's Big Brother (0.59, -0.03) declined from last Thursday's episode. ABC's Press Your Luck (0.25, -0.06) was also down and lost to Fox's MLB: Regional Coverage (0.35). Masters of Illusion (0.06, +0.02) and World's Funniest Animals (0.04, +0.01) grew on the CW. Key: (R) = repeat.

Wednesday TV Ratings 8/21/24: Democratic National Convention Dips Slightly but Continues to Out-Rate RNC, MasterChef and America’s Got Talent Drop to Lows [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: Though cable coverage of the Democratic National Convention was down slightly on night three, the opposite was true for two of the broadcast networks. The ABC (0.41, +0.04) and NBC (0.34, +0.02) broadcasts were up a bit in the key demo, but CBS's coverage (0.29, -0.03) slipped. Earlier in the evening, Fox's MasterChef (0.21, -0.02) was down from last week, as was Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (0.32, -0.01). America's Got Talent (0.25, -0.09) plummeted on NBC, and Big Brother (0.56, -0.05) also dealt with a noticeable week-to-week drop. The CW aired repeats of Sullivan's Crossing (0.06) and Police 24/7 (0.07). Key: (R) = repeat.

Tuesday TV Ratings 8/20/24: Democratic National Convention Jumps on Night Two and Continues to Outpace RNC, America’s Got Talent and Beat Shazam Drop [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: Amongst the Big 3 broadcast networks, the Democratic National Convention was up across the board on night two. ABC's broadcast (0.37, +0.07) took the lead once more, while NBC (0.32, +0.06) and CBS (0.32, +0.06) tied for second yet again. In the 8 p.m. time slot, America's Got Talent (0.41, -0.03) was a few ticks lower than it was last week. Celebrity Family Feud (0.33, -0.03) also declined. Over on Fox, Beat Shazam (0.17, -0.02) slipped, while The Quiz with Balls (0.21, -0.07) plummeted. Repeats of The Conners (0.04/0.04/0.04/0.05) remained a CW fixture. Key: (R) = repeat.

Monday TV Ratings 8/19/24: Democratic National Convention Tops Night One of RNC but Lags Behind 2020 in Demo, The Bachelorette Drops [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: On night one of the Democratic National Convention, it was ABC's showing (0.30) that led the way amongst the big 3 broadcast networks. NBC and CBS both posted a 0.26 rating, but CBS was slightly above the Peacock network in total viewership. Earlier in the night, ABC's The Bachelorette (0.32, -0.04) and NBC's American Ninja Warrior (0.32, -0.01) declined. Name That Tune (0.19, -0.01) also dipped on Fox, but The 1% Club (0.24, +0.03) climbed above last week's rating. All American: Homecoming (0.05, +0.01) and 61st Street (0.03, +0.01) each picked up a hundredth on the CW. Key: (R) = repeat.
