The Celebrity Dating Game: This week, ABC said farewell to The Celebrity Dating Game after an eight-episode run. It would only make sense for that farewell to be a permanent one. The show didn't do terrible, but it certainly isn't very promising. While The Bachelorette was weaker this season than in the past few years, Dating Game's retention from it was still pretty abysmal. 0.4s aren't that bad, but behind a compatible show that's one of the top programs of the summer, it's very underwhelming. Dating Game went below even those 0.4s, with three 0.3s in the middle of the run before rallying at the end or a whopping 0.40 for its finale. There doesn't seem to be much reason to bring this show back, not when they can try something new next season in the slot and almost-certainly not get ratings any lower than this. It LEANS CANCELLATION.

Bachelor in Paradise: Speaking of dating shows, Bachelor in Paradise is back! The beach-themed Bachelor spinoff returned after taking 2020 off and impressed with a strong 0.94, premiere, rating just 0.05 below the Bachelorette's summer 2021 premiere and just 0.01 below the Bachelorette season average. For context, season 6 of Paradise averaged a solid three tenths below that year's Bachelorette. It wouldn't have been in much danger no matter how it returned, but this secures that eighth season. It's a CERTAIN RENEWAL.

House Calls with Dr. Phil: Dr. Phil may be a daytime legend, but his crossover into primetime was nothing short of a disaster. Airing behind the unbelievably incompatible Big Brother, the show launched to just a 0.27. That's less than a third (!) of Big Brother's 0.90 debut. There's no way to spin that, it's absolutely abysmal. Even Friday show Secret Celebrity Renovation, which did not exactly light the world on fire, premiered better than that! It's impossible to imagine them even considering bringing this back after bombing so terribly. Repeats would do almost the same at less of a cost. It's a CERTAIN CANCELLATION, the first of the season.

MasterChef: This show has been a summer staple on Fox for over a decade, and while its ratings dropped quite a bit this season, it remains a respectable performer. It's no surprise that Fox decided this week to make its renewal official, ordered a twelfth season of Gordon Ramsay's show and giving me another correct prediction.

What do you think of my predictions? What are your prediction? Let me know in the comments and vote in the poll of the week!
