One of those is a series premiere, ABC's Stumptown, while the other is a season premiere, Fox's two-hour launch of The Masked Singer. While not a series premiere, The Masked Singer is one of the buzziest premieres this week. It was a cultural phenomenon during season one, with a 2.6 average, going as high as a 3.6 for the finale. It now returns in the fall and at 8 PM, two situations it didn't experience last time around. Meanwhile, ABC's Stumptown will have its series premiere at 10. A weak Single Parents lead-in and the 10 PM timeslot both point to signs of trouble for the show, but it's been one of the stronger new shows on social media and has received heavy promotion from the network. Comedy Mixed-ish will anchor the 9 PM hour, leading in to parent show Blackish. The 1980s-set series will feature narration from Blackish star Tracee Ellis Ross. The other new series for the night is sci-fi drama Emergence, led by Fargo's Allison Tolman and Clancy Brown. The show was originally produced for NBC by ABC Studios before moving to ABC. Tonight are the Oscars, and for some categories, it's anyone's guess as to who will take home the Oscar statuette. All eyes are on Best Picture and the top acting categories. Some of the more notable competitions are in Best Picture, where Roma hopes to become the first Netflix film to win the night's top honor; Best Actress, where screen veteran Glenn Close hopes to take home her first-ever Oscar, and BAFTA and Golden Globe winner Olivia Colman presents her biggest challenge on that road; and Best Supporting Actress, where favorite Regina King, notably left out at the SAGs and BAFTAs, hopes to triumph over Oscar winner Rachel Weisz (who won the BAFTA).
