FBI Spinoff CIA Ordered to Series by CBS
The FBI franchise took a hit this season following the cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, but FBI will not be the only series in the franchise next season. CIA, formerly known as FBI: CIA, an offshoot of the franchise that has been in development since before the Most Wanted and International cancellations, has been ordered straight-to-series at CBS. Tom Ellis, known for his lead role in Fox/Netflix's Lucifer, will lead the series, the only cast member confirmed for the show so far. CIA is confirmed for a premiere in the 2025-26 season. It's the third series order for CBS for next season, after the long-gestating Sheriff Country and Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue. All of their new pickups so far are, notably, tied to other popular CBS projects. Several other projects remain in contention, including multiple sitcom pilots and drama pilot Einstein.
FBI and FBI: Most Wanted Renewed by CBS, Spinoff FBI: International Ordered
The FBI franchise will be back next season on CBS in a big way, with both FBI and FBI: Most Wanted returning for additional seasons, to be joined by the new series FBI: International. The franchise has been very successful for CBS. The original FBI rates as CBS' #2 scripted show, while FBI: Most Wanted is their highest-rated 10 PM series. Dick Wolf, creator of the Law & Order and Chicago franchises, created the FBI franchise, which is now his third successful franchise. FBI stars Missy Peregrym, Jeremy Sisto, Zeeko Zaki and Alana de la Garza, while Most Wanted features Julian McMahon, Kellan Lutz, Keisha Castle-Hughes and Nathaniel Arcand in key roles. No cast has been set for FBI: International. Both are correct predictions for The TV Ratings Guide.
