Carol’s Second Act Canceled After One Season

Carol’s Second Act won't have a second season, as CBS canceled the series today. It was the network's lowest-rated comedy this season, despite being one of the higher-rated new shows this season across broadcast. It was the lowest-rated of any sitcom to air on Thursdays this season, averaging a half tenth below the next lowest-rated entry, Broke. Patricia Heaton, Kyle MacLachlan, Lucas Neff, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Ito Aghayere, Ashley Tisdale, Sabrina Jalees and Cedric Yarborough starred in the series, which ran for eighteen episodes. The series finale aired on March 12. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.

Broke Canceled by CBS

Broke, the most recent CBS comedy to premiere, has gone for broke. The sitcom has been canceled after a single season. It got off to a surprisingly strong start in the ratings when it debuted in early April, though losing its compatible Mom lead-in helped it slip to a middling 0.6 by week four. Its 0.69 average is still better than what fall comedy Carol's Second Act did in more favorable circumstances, but it presumably wasn't a priority for CBS given its scheduling and didn't stand out enough ratings-wise to warrant a second season. The sitcom stars Pauley Perrette, Jaime Camil, Natasha Leggero, Izzy Diaz, and Anthony Raul Corbo. With just five episodes aired so far, Broke will continue airing through early summer until its makeshift series finale.
