Tommy Canceled After One Season
The lowest-rated new show on CBS has been canceled after a single season. The Edie Falco-led police procedural Tommy averaged just 0.49 over the course of season one. After a rough 0.4 premiere, it managed to grow over the course of season one, eventually hitting 0.6. However, it began to sink back down to premiere levels by the end of its run, leading to its cancellation. In addition to Falco, Tommy starred Thomas Sadoski, Michael Chernus, Adelaide Clemens and Olivia Lucy Phillip. The series finale airs May 7.
Broke Canceled by CBS
Broke, the most recent CBS comedy to premiere, has gone for broke. The sitcom has been canceled after a single season. It got off to a surprisingly strong start in the ratings when it debuted in early April, though losing its compatible Mom lead-in helped it slip to a middling 0.6 by week four. Its 0.69 average is still better than what fall comedy Carol's Second Act did in more favorable circumstances, but it presumably wasn't a priority for CBS given its scheduling and didn't stand out enough ratings-wise to warrant a second season. The sitcom stars Pauley Perrette, Jaime Camil, Natasha Leggero, Izzy Diaz, and Anthony Raul Corbo. With just five episodes aired so far, Broke will continue airing through early summer until its makeshift series finale.

Thursday TV Ratings 4/30/20: Parks & Rec Special Strong, Council of Dads Premiere Embarrassing, Moving Millionaire and Young Sheldon Finale Rise (UPDATED)
Preliminary Analysis: In a stunning turn of events, NBC's 'Parks & Recreation' reunion special (1.4) demolished the competition and was the top program of the night. This number would have been a high-end result for its 6th OR 7th season, with the 6th averaging a 1.16 A18-49 rating & the 7th a 1.33. It also tied the second-half of its series finale all the way back in 2015. The broadcast led out of a Paley Salute of itself (1.0), the latter was still strong enough to beat out all NBC comedy ratings from the 2019-20 television season. Unfortunately, that lead-in juice was wasted on a 'Council of Dads' repeat (0.4) at 9 and an original 'Council' (0.3) at 10. The drama fell four-tenths from an already feeble opener.
The added comedy competition didn't seem to phase the season three finale of 'Young Sheldon' (1.1). The CBS sitcom ticked up from its last episode but still trailed its year-ago closer (2.1). The 'Big Bang' spinoff led into a full hour of 'Man with a Plan' (0.7/0.7) & steady showings of 'Broke' (0.6) and 'Tommy' (0.5). ABC rescued 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' by taking it out of the dreadful 10pm slot and placing it on Thursdays at 8. Their efforts paid off as the 0.8 rating it posted was three-tenths above its last episode and above all its showings aside from the 'Modern Family'-boosted debut (1.1). It led into 'Station 19' (0.9) which shed three-tenths and tied its season low. The alphabet network capped off the night with an even 'How To Get Away with Murder' (0.6). 'Last Man Standing' (0.7) quietly closed out its eighth season on Fox. While steady on a week-to-week basis, it was two-tenths below its season seven finale (0.9). The CW had stable 'Katy Keene' (0.1) and 'In the Dark' (0.1).
Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary ratings.

Thursday TV Ratings 4/16/20: Mom Ends Down, In The Dark Returns Low, Disney Special Massive (UPDATED)
The only network that seemed visibly affected by the Disney special was CBS as 'Young Sheldon' (1.0) lost three-tenths from its last original. 'Man With a Plan' (0.7) held onto last week's number at 8:30 but 'Mom' (0.8) lost two-tenths for its 9pm finale. Newbie 'Broke' (0.7) continued to look fairly promising at 9:30, steady with last week. 'Tommy' (0.5) looked a little less impressive at 10, down a tick from its high point.
NBC's lineup was resilient against the 'Singalong' with a repeat of 'Superstore' (0.6) actually performing a tenth better than last week at 8pm, matching a few first-run episodes. Lead-outs 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' (0.6) and 'Will & Grace' (0.6) were even while the season (series?) finale of 'Indebted' (0.4) gained a precious tenth at 9:30. 'Law & Order: SVU' (0.7) rounded out the night up a notch.
'Last Man Standing' (0.6) lost a tenth on FOX and led into another round of repeats (0.5/0.4). The CW had a helping of 0.1s with 'Katy Keene' and the season two premiere of 'In The Dark'.
Finals Update: Station 19 (-0.1) and the repeat of Superstore (-0.1) adjusted down.
