Thursday TV Ratings 6/11/20: Man With a Plan Ends Steady, Don’t Starts Strong (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: ABC has long had pretty good luck with its 'Summer Fun & Games' brand and the series premiere of game show 'Don't' (0.9) proved programs under the umbrella can still pack a punch. The Adam Scott program outperformed last week's 'Millionaire' finale (0.8) and built significantly from its 'Holey Moley' leadin (0.7). 'Holey Moley' was steady with last week despite a move from 9pm to 8pm while 'To Tell The Truth' (0.7) rose a tenth at 10 thanks to stronger lead-in support.

CBS's 'Man With a Plan' (0.6) held even for its final episode ever, rising a notch from its 'Young Sheldon' repeat leadin (0.5) and also beating out its 'Mom' repeat lead-out (0.5). Unlike the departing Matt LeBlanc sitcom, 'Broke' (0.5) lost a tenth from last week at 9:30. A 'SWAT' encore (0.4) closed things out at 10. 

'Celebrity Watch Party' (0.4) was even on Fox but 'Labor of Love' (0.3) inched up a tenth. NBC's feeble lineup got a bit uglier as 'Council of Dads' (0.3) and 'Blindspot' (0.2) dropped one tenth apiece. An 'SVU' repeat (0.3) actually managed to beat out 'Blindspot' despite airing at 10. The CW's 'Burden of Truth' (0.1) and 'In the Dark' (0.1) matched their prior broadcasts. 

Finals Update: Broke (+0.1) and the repeats of Mom (+0.1) and Young Sheldon (+0.1) adjusted up. Don't (-0.1) and Labor of Love (-0.1) adjusted down.

Thursday TV Ratings 6/4/20: Millionaire Finale, Holey Moley, and To Tell The Truth Drop, Broke Steady (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: The alphabet network continued its Thursday dominance as 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' (0.9) held steady on finale night. The Kimmel incarnation of the game show staple was once more the night's top broadcast, making it clear that its presence will be missed. Despite its stability, lead-out programs 'Holey Moley' (0.7) and 'To Tell the Truth' (0.6) each lost a tenth from last week.

CBS was locked in with more sitcom burnoffs. 'Man With a Plan' (0.6) was even with its previous broadcast but 'Broke' (0.5) finally caved in and lost a tenth, likely making CBS feel slightly better about cancelling the solid performer. Those doomed originals were surrounded by sturdy encores of 'Young Sheldon' (0.6), 'Mom' (0.6), and 'SWAT' (0.3).

'Council of Dads' (0.4) and 'Blinspot' (0.3) were frozen at last week's results on NBC. The peacock network closed the night with an NBC News special (0.3). Fox was steady with 'Celebrity Watch Party' (0.4) but 'Labor of Love' (0.2) lost a precious tenth at 9. The CW was even across the board with 'Burden of Truth' (0.1) & 'In the Dark' (0.1).

Finals Update: Broke (+0.1) adjusted up. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (-0.1) adjusted down.

Thursday TV Ratings 5/28/20: To Tell The Truth and Holey Moley Steady, Millionaire and Labor of Love Rose (UPDATED)

ABC topped the night once more as 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' (0.9) gained a tenth from last week, matching its Thursday high. Afterwards, 'Holey Moley' (0.8) and 'To Tell The Truth' (0.7) were both even with their week-ago premieres. For 'To Tell The Truth', the Anthony Anderson-hosted series remains a stronger performer than Anderson's other ABC series 'Blackish'.

CBS continued burning off 'Man With a Plan' (0.6) and 'Broke' (0.6) amidst repeats of 'Young Sheldon' (0.6) and 'Mom' (0.6). Both programs were even and remain remarkably solid considering the poor circumstances they've been handed. The Tiffany network capped the night with a 'S.W.A.T' repeat (0.4).

FOX got some minor relief as 'Labor of Love' (0.3) rose a tenth from last week's ghastly start. Lead-in 'Celebrity Watch Party' (0.3) held steady.

'Council of Dads' (0.4) and 'Blindspot' (0.3) were even with their prior episodes on NBC but got humiliated by a repeat of 'SVU' (0.3) at 10. The CW had 0.1s with 'Burden of Truth' and more 'In the Dark'.

Thursday TV Ratings 5/21/20: Red Nose Day Low After Strong Celebrity Escape Room, Holey Moley and To Tell the Truth Return Well, Labor of Love Pathetic (UPDATED)

ABC easily won Thursday night, trotting out two new game shows after the finales of their Thursday dramas last week. Millionaire actually kicked off the night with a drop, but the strength of the two premieres led to only a very small week-to-week decline overall. At 9, Holey Moley managed to impress in its premiere with a 0.8, holding onto all of its Millionaire lead-in. That's higher than all but two episodes of its first season and far higher than its late-season results. At 10, To Tell the Truth returned with a 0.7, down a tenth from its last season premiere, but ahead of every other rating from its 13-episode Sunday run.

NBC took second for the night with very mixed results for their two specials. Celebrity Escape Room, featuring host Jack Black and contestants Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Adam Scott and Ben Stiller,  had a strong showing for NBC, tying two ABC shows to lead the night with a 0.8.
Celebrity Escape Room is a part of NBC's annual Red Nose Day charity event, and it became the highest-rated special ever associated with Red Nose Day, even surpassing early American Ninja Warrior specials. The Red Nose Day special itself wasn't helped much by its bigger lead-in, basiclaly steady year-to-year with a 0.4. Its 0.5 in the first half is better than any of its half-hours last year, though.

CBS tied for second for the night after experiencing multiple drops. A Young Sheldon repeat kicked off the night down a tenth, which brought Man With a Plan down a tenth as well. The Mom repeat was steady at 9, while Broke was down to 0.5 at 9:30. A SWAT repeat closed out the night steady at 0.4. Fox had a disastrous night, to put it mildly. Celebrity Watch Party came down a tenth at 8, matching last week's preliminary 0.3. At 9, Labor of Love had one of the lowest Big 4 debuts in history with a ghastly 0.2. It never had much of a chance with such an awful lead-in, but losing a tenth from it on premiere night ensures that we won't be seeing it for much longer. The ratings for this Fox lineup mirror the ratings for The CW's Tuesday lineup, which is never a compliment. The CW. brought Burden of Truth back at 8, matching Katy Keene's finale with a 0.1 but actually hitting a 0.2 in the first half, which Katy Keene hasn't done in some time. In the Dark was steady at 9 with another 0.1.

Thursday TV Ratings 5/14/20: How to Get Away With Murder Up Multiple Tenths for Series Finale, Station 19 Finale Ties Millionaire for Win, Katy Keene Ends Steady (UPDATED)

Thursday night saw the end of one of ABC's longest-running dramas. How To Get Away With Murder wrapped up a six-season run up two tenths from its penultimate episode. After some extremely weak ratings this fall, this is a positive end to the show's run, especially considering that season five's finale only drew a 0.6. At 9, Station 19 ended its season with a Grey's Anatomy crossover and a one-tenth bump to 0.9. Who Wants To Be a Millionaire welcomed Catherine O'Hara and Mr. Phil to the show and held steady at 0.9, winning the night along with Station.

CBS again aired canceled comedies Man With a Plan and Broke. Man was down a tenth and had perfect retention from its Young Sheldon repeat lead-in. Broke was steady and also held onto its entire lead-in. A 10 o'clock SWAT repeat drew a 0.4, down from the series finale of Tommy.

On NBC, Council of Dads held steady at 0.4, while Blindspot was steady at 0.3 and an SVU repeat rounded out the night at 0.3.

Fox's Celebrity Watch Party managed to stay steady with its premiere after a finals adjustment. The Mental Samurai repeat at 9 gained a tenth to 0.4.

The CW said goodbye to Katy Keene, which remained embarrassing at 0.1. In The Dark also drew a 0.1. Next week, they swap in Burden of Truth at 8, probably to the same results.
