NBC Preseason 2026-27 Renew/Cancel: An Early Look Ahead at Law & Order, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, Line of Fire, SVU & More!

With the new TV season just weeks away from beginning, it's time to take an early look at NBC's schedule and make some predictions for their lineup of scripted programs, which includes several new series, sophomore shows that may be in danger of not making it to season three, and aging series that may be nearing the end of their runs.

Tuesday TV Ratings 8/25/26: ABC Dolly Parton Tribute Draws Solid Interest, Jeopardy! Masters Returns Slightly Lower, Kitchen Nightmares and Beat Shazam Dip Further [+ Analysis]

Jeopardy! Masters (0.26) returned in decent shape on ABC, down just 7% from last year's premiere (0.28) in the key demo. But that performance was largely overshadowed by the network's 10 p.m. Dolly Parton tribute (0.29) that posted a higher 18-49 rating than Masters and brought in more total viewers. On NBC, America's Got Talent (0.40, -0.01) was down slightly from last Tuesday, while Password (0.25, +0.02) rose. CBS's Dolly Parton special (0.11) was on the softer side. Over on Fox, Kitchen Nightmares (0.22, -0.02) and Beat Shazam (0.18, -0.01) both dipped. WWE NXT (0.09, -0.05) declined sharply on the CW. Key: (P) = premiere. (R) = repeat.

Fox's Beat Shazam (0.23, +0.04) was up on a special night and time, but the 9 p.m. episode (0.19, -0.04) gave back that growth. On ABC, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro (0.24, -0.09) collapsed, sinking after last week's surge. American Ninja Warrior (0.33, +0.02) and The Wall (0.17, +0.01) ticked up on NBC. All American (0.05, -0.05) lost half of its week-ago rating on the CW. Key: (R) = repeat.

Sunday TV Ratings 8/23/26: WNBA Draws Most-Watched Regular Season Game Since 1997, Declines Persist for Big Brother, Lanterns Slightly Down [+ Analysis]

CBS's Big Brother (0.70, +0.11) was up by more than a tenth from last week and posted the top 18-49 rating of the night. MLB on NBC (0.34) was at less than half of that rating but stood out as a solid performer nonetheless. On ABC, the special Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration (0.21) dropped noticeably from its Funniest Home Videos repeat lead-in (0.38). Fox aired repeats of Kitchen Nightmares (0.13), Simpsons (0.13), Animal Control (0.11), Basic Guys (0.06), and Grimsburg (0.05). The CW aired The Bucket List (0.05). Key: (R) = repeat.

While CBS's WNBA broadcast (0.27) looked respectable on Saturday night, it was MLB on Fox (0.56) that led the way overall. NBC reruns of American Ninja Warrior (0.16) and Dateline (0.12) were above ABC's 9-1-1 repeats (0.11/0.10/0.11). PBR on the CW (0.04) was at a modest level. Key: (R) = repeat.

The Patriot Games (0.11) proved to be ratings poison for ABC, losing half of a wounded Celebrity Family Feud (0.22, -0.08) and sending Press Your Luck (0.17, -0.13) to a devastating new low, despite the latter's best efforts to bring viewers back to the network. CBS's Big Brother (0.75, +0.09) soared, while NBC had a quiet night of repeats (0.18/0.17/0.15). On Fox, a rerun of The 1% Club (0.24) went above Feud in the key demographic.
