Thursday TV Ratings 4/16/20: Mom Ends Down, In The Dark Returns Low, Disney Special Massive (UPDATED)

In recent years, ABC has seen massive Nielsen success for event broadcasts such as 'The Little Mermaid Live!' (2.6) and 'Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time' (2.4). 'Disney Family Singalong' (2.6) turned out to be no different, posting a colossal rating that put any scripted program on the alphabet network to shame. That lead-in juice helped 'Station 19' (1.3) hold even at its season high in its move from 8pm to 9pm. 'How To Get Away with Murder' (0.6) was steady at 10 and remained a good bit above its dreadful fall numbers.

The only network that seemed visibly affected by the Disney special was CBS as 'Young Sheldon' (1.0) lost three-tenths from its last original. 'Man With a Plan' (0.7) held onto last week's number at 8:30 but 'Mom' (0.8) lost two-tenths for its 9pm finale. Newbie 'Broke' (0.7) continued to look fairly promising at 9:30, steady with last week. 'Tommy' (0.5) looked a little less impressive at 10, down a tick from its high point.

NBC's lineup was resilient against the 'Singalong' with a repeat of 'Superstore' (0.6) actually performing a tenth better than last week at 8pm, matching a few first-run episodes. Lead-outs 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' (0.6) and 'Will & Grace' (0.6) were even while the season (series?) finale of 'Indebted' (0.4) gained a precious tenth at 9:30. 'Law & Order: SVU' (0.7) rounded out the night up a notch.

'Last Man Standing' (0.6) lost a tenth on FOX and led into another round of repeats (0.5/0.4). The CW had a helping of 0.1s with 'Katy Keene' and the season two premiere of 'In The Dark'.

Finals Update: Station 19 (-0.1) and the repeat of Superstore (-0.1) adjusted down.

This episode, being a finale, should have a lot of surprised. Also, there are supposed to be 2 deaths in this episode. The wait is over, the season finale is here!


S2E15 "Anna Mae"

The Keating 5, Frank, and Bonnie are at Annalise's house, worried because she is missing. Laurel is extremely hung over. She tells Frank what she said to Annalise, who believes that this is the reason for Annalise leaving. Oliver has discovered that Annalise went to Memphis. In Memphis, at her mother's house, Annalise meets with some people she hasn't seen for a long time. She freezes when she sees her father, and she refuses to talk to him.

In the past, Frank considers the offer he got from the woman he was going to have sex with. It is also revealed that he put a listening device in Annalise's hotel room. In the present, the group calls in Nate, who reveals that there is an arrest warrant that's going to be issued for Annalise. Annalise is angry because her mother and father are back together. Wes talks to Laurel about going to New York to see Mahoney, but she convinces him otherwise. Laurel tells Frank what they were talking about, and he didn't know that Mahoney was Wes's father. Nate shows up in Memphis to warn Annalise.

It turns out that Frank's bugging of Annalise's hotel room was what he was supposed to do for the woman, who says that they will see each other again. Asher wants to talk to Michaela about what they did last night, and he is really awkward and funny. They then start kissing, but then Michaela stops it. Annalise's mother and Nate are really funny. Oliver finds Annalise's arrest warrant, and that it is redacted. One of the reasons for this could be that one of them was an informant. This could get interesting. Annalise's mother talks about why she never had a baby, which is because she is still a baby herself. Annalise tells her mother about the baby she had who died, and it is a really emotional moment.

Annalise tells her mother that she wanted to get shot, and it starts to turn into a great moment between them, but then Annalise ends it. The woman listening in on Annalise is working for Mahoney, and it seems that the accident may not have been an accident. The Keating 5 and Oliver discover who the informant was. Annalise's mother wakes her up for a great scene, where she writes a note to her baby. In no words, Viola Davis gives an outstanding performance as she writes the note. She buries the note, and it is very emotional.

Annalise discovers all of the voicemails left on her phone. She answers a call from Michaela, who reveals that Caleb was the informant. Annalise calls Nate, saying she needs his help. Caleb has got to be one of the people that dies. Annalise accuses Caleb of being a sociopath and a serial killer, and all of the evidence against her is his word. It turns out that Phillip gave Annalise evidence that Caleb killed his parents. Annalise brings in Phillip. The group at Annalise's house watches the news, and wonder how Annalise did it. Bonnie tells everyone to leave, which seems suspicious considering that two people are supposed to die tonight. And then, we get the first of those deaths, Caleb, lying in a pool of blood in the bathtub.

Oliver calls Stanford and pretends to be Connor, and declines the acceptance. He then deletes the email. This plan seems like it would have a hole in it. In the past, Frank tells Sam what happened, and Sam gets mad at him. Frank wants to tell Annalise, but Sam says not to. This is how Sam gets Frank to kill Lila. Laurel goes to Frank's apartment, and doesn't find him there. She expects to see his dead body in the bathroom, but it is empty. She discovers blood in the closet though. Wes goes to New York, and tells Mahoney that he thinks that he is his son, but then Mahoney gets shot. This was a crazy ending. Now we have to wait six months for more How to Get Away with Murder!


The first half of the episode didn't give us much except for Annalise's mother. The scene with Annalise in the yard was great, but other than that, it was actually a weaker episode. Overall, it was pretty good.

In this penultimate episode of the season, the Keating 5 are called into questioning.


S2E14 "There's My Baby"

At the start of the episode, Eve calls the police due to Annalise getting attacked in Wes's apartment. She ends up being fine. The flashback that follows includes what we saw in the winter finale flashback. In the present, Eve invites Annalise to stay with her in New York to be protected, but Annalise says that Nate will protect her. Nate arrives, and Michaela gets mad at Annalise because Caleb went missing.

In a flashback, Annalise comes back to her hotel room exhausted. Her client arrives, and they argue. Annalise asks her client why Rose was afraid of him. Back in the present, the DA talks to Connor, Michaela, Laurel, and Wes, and offers immunity for one of them beyond the night that Sinclair died, it is really interesting. Bonnie talks to Frank about what she overheard him and Laurel talking about, but he doesn't reveal anything more.

Back in the past, Frank and Annalise have a small argument when he wants her to treat him better. In the present, Wes is angry at Laurel for hiding information from him. Asher apologizes to everyone, but Bonnie says not to, they are all bad people. The episode gives us another flashback, where Annalise plans to provide information about Rose, but ends up getting hit by a car.

Continuing the flashback, Bonnie is worried about talking to a guy in her law class, so she is practicing with Sam. He answers a call, and discovers what happened to Annalise. Annalise wakes up, and is worried that her baby may be dead. Back in the present, the DA talks to Asher. He reveals that an eyewitness saw Asher in the parking garage the night that Sinclair died, and that is also the last place she was seen alive. Laurel mentions that she thinks Frank shot Annalise around Oliver to see how he reacts, to prove to Connor that they can't tell him what really happened. Annalise tells everyone to leave, except Wes.

The rest of the group goes to a bar. Oliver tells Connor that he quit his job, and he wonders if Annalise will hire him, which Connor immediately objects to. In the past, Annalise's baby doesn't make it, which provides for a really emotional scene, as in the present Annalise tells Wes that she blames herself for Rose's death.

Back in the flashback, Eve asks Sam how Annalise is, and he tells her the news. He also says that Annalise will no longer be on the case. Then, the conversation from the night before is continued, where Annalise accuses the client of having raped Rose, and that Wes is his son. He then fires her. In the present, Annalise tells Wes who his father is. Outside the bar, Michaela expresses her anger to Asher, and they end up kissing. They then move it into the bathroom. Wes looks up his father, and discovers that he has moved to Manhattan. Bonnie concludes that Sam told Frank to kill Lila, but Laurel doesn't come to that conclusion, and she goes to Annalise's house, and says that she knows that she told Frank to kill Lila. Annalise, as a result, runs off to her mother's house.



There were some really good scenes in this episode, but also some I really didn't care about. Overall, it was a good episode.
