9JKL Canceled by CBS After Single Season

CBS has just confirmed what everyone pretty much already knew: 9JKL won't be back for a second season. The multicamera sitcom focused on a man who moves into an apartment between his parents and his brother and sister-in-law. 9JKL premiere behind CBS's #1 show the Big Bang Theory to decent ratings, but it fell apart completely when Big Bang moved back to Thursdays, leaving 9JKL with a much-lower Kevin Can Wait lead-in. This led to the series being swiftly moved to 9:30, with an even lower Superior Donuts lead-in. The show eventually fell as low as 0.7, only working its way out of the fractions once. The show received a small, three-episode backorder before it ended in February 2018 with a 0.96 average. In addition to starring, Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) and created the show, along with his wife Dana Klein. Linda Lavin (Alice), Elliott Gould (Friends), David Walton (About a Boy), and Liza Lapira (Don't Trust the B) also starred. This was a correct prediction for the TV Ratings Guide.

What do you think about 9JKL's cancellation? Will you miss the show? Let us know in the comments below.

Monday TV Ratings 2/5/18: Better Late Than Never & The Wall End On Season Highs (UPDATED)

Monday was a healthy night for TV almost across the board, with upticks for multiple series and timeslots across Fox, NBC, ABC, and CW. NBC's gains were most notable. A post-Super Bowl bounce gave the Wall a 1.5 for its finale, up a whopping four tenths to what is easily a new high for this slot. Better Late Than Never aired its finale, also up to a season high of 1.1. At 10, NBC somehow managed to find a way to make the Brave look good, with a 0.6 for an Olympics special. ABC saw an uptick for The Bachelor, up a tenth to 1.8. The show is still down considerably, but it's still a very strong performer for them that helps to easily give them a Monday win. Behind it, The Good Doctor returned steady at 1.7, still an incredible number that crushes both of its rivals. Fox had upticks for both of its dramas, with Lucifer gaining two tenths and The Resident gaining one. In unrounded numbers, it looks like a new preliminary high for Resident (other than its boosted premiere), which is turning out to be a decent player for the network. The CW had repeats of Whose Line? that improved on Valor. CBS, however, wasn't so lucky, and had declines for the majority of its shows. Man With a Plan was down a tenth to 1.0, while the (series?) finale of 9JKL was down to 0.8. At 10, Scorpion reclaimed its title as the sole lowest-rated CBS Monday series after two weeks of tying 9JKL, down two tenths to 0.7.

Rebecca's Ratings Winner: The Wall

Finals Update: Man With a Plan (+0.1), 9JKL (+0.1), The Resident (+0.1), and Scorpion (+0.1) adjusted up.
