Access Hollywood Canceled by NBCUniversal, Karamo and The Steve Wilkos Show Also Axed Amid Syndication Struggles

It's a syndication bloodbath at NBCUniversal, as the studio is set to end its first-run syndication operations entirely, a month after it was announced that their top-rated talk series The Kelly Clarkson Show would end after its current season. NBCUniversal will end long-running tabloid news series Access Hollywood after its 30th season, after debuting in 1996. Its cancellation will also mark the end of its afternoon talk show spinoff, Access Daily, which is hosted by Access hosts Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover. Alongside the Access Hollywood cancellation comes the cancellations of The Steve Wilkos Show, on the air since 2007, and Karamo, which debuted in 2002 and is in its fourth season. The series' cancellation come as first-run syndicated programs struggle to stay alive. Lionsgate also announced last month that syndicated talk show Sherri will end this season, meaning five daytime syndicated staples will end their runs in 2026. Few syndicated daytime talk series remain on the air at this point, though Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Hudson's talk shows have been renewed, and Tamron Hall and Live with Kelly and Mark also remain on the air. Long-running evening syndicated tabloid series Extra, Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition also remain on the air.

Celebrity Name Game Cancelled

The syndicated game show Celebrity Name Game, now in its third season, will be coming to an end. The series has been cancelled, and won't be returning for a fourth season. The series stars Craig Ferguson as host, in a role that won him two Emmy Awards. The series airs in syndication, and was produced by Courteney Cox and David Arquette.
