Superior Donuts Season 2 Episode 17 Review

In this episode, Arthur plans on going to the Cubs Home Opener, but he is given an invalid ticket, so he is forced to try and get into the ballpark to break the streak of going to the Home Opener game. Also, Randy goes undercover outside of the ballpark. I have loved both of the last two episodes, and I really like the premise of this episode. I hope it doesn't disappoint me.

The episode begins with Arthur saying that he can get the streak for amount of times at the Home Opener Game this year. Randy then says she is going undercover, with a partner she hasn't met yet, at the game. It turns out that the person who usually gives Arthur the tickets has died, so he cannot use the tickets, therefore his streak is at risk. Franco's cousin, who has been in jail, then walks into the shop. Franco wants Arthur to give Marcus, Franco's cousin, a delivery job at the shop.

Randy is meeting with her new partner, and they are planing the undercover assignment for the Cubs game. They decide to be Pirates fans from Pittsburgh, and they make a story about their marriage that they'll use at the game. Then, Marcus gives Arthur two Cubs tickets, and Arthur gives him the delivery job. At the game, Randy and her partner use their story to try and catch a man who they find suspicious. Her partner takes this story to another level, when he gives every detail about their fake life to the guy. This leads to a fake fight. I found this scene enjoyable. They eventually admit that they're officers and arrest the man.

Meanwhile, Arthur is being interviewed at the game for his record streak, and he then walks into the stadium, only to find out that the tickets that Marcus gave him were stolen. He is escorted out of Wrigley Field by Security. When Randy and her partner get back to the shop, they agree to have dinner sometime. Arthur then fires Marcus because he gave Arthur stolen tickets, but it turns out that Tush was the one who gave Marcus the tickets. Arthur then gives Marcus his job back, and Randy gives Arthur one of the real tickets that she got from the criminals. A player from the Cubs walks into the shop to give Arthur a bat as a gift for being a dedicated Cubs fan.

I really loved this episode. The premise was great, and I loved that it took place at Wrigley Field for part of the episode. Both storylines were really great. I also liked Marcus a lot on the show. I liked how Arthur was stuck out of the Cubs game. He was finally portrayed as another character besides the owner of the shop, and I also loved Randy going undercover, and her partner was great as well. I liked the character of Marcus, but I wish that they didn't have him as an ex-con. This was a really great episode, and it was probably one of my favorites from this season.

Superior Donuts Season 2 Episode 15 Review

In this episode of Superior Donuts, Arthur's plan to bribe the health inspector goes south when a new, and more by the book, inspector comes in. Also, after Randy passes the detective exam, she is asked by her former supervisor to talk with a rookie who filed sexual harassment claims against him. I am very excited for this episode, since it has Randy back at work, which was one of my favorite pilots from season one, and it had a pilot with Arthur that I've always wanted, his precious shop being examined.

The episode begins with Arthur saying that every year when the health inspector comes, he gives the guy a bottle of scotch, and Arthur gets a passing grade. Franco thinks that the regulations are important, while Fawz goes to Arthurs side in the debate. Randy then comes in saying that she passed her detective exam. I was really happy to hear that since she gets to go back to work, which I loved in season one. Then, Irene, the new health inspector walks in and says that she's replacing the old guy while he's at rehab. Franco then leads Irene to the kitchen, preventing Arthur from bribing her in any way.

After Irene leaves, Franco encourages Arthur to fix the issues in the shop, but Arthur insists on not giving up n bribing Irene. Randy is them having coffee with her former supervisor, Ted. Ted said that a female rookie cop reported him to HR, and he asks for Randy to talk with him. Sophia tells Randy that she should hear what the cop has to say before immediately assuming that she misread Ted. Irene then comes back and gives the awful report to Arthur. Fawz then works on Arthur's side and tries to find something to bribe Irene with. Fawz then suggests that Arthur could go on a date with Irene as a bribe, since Irene seemed to like Arthur.

The next morning, Arthur comes back from a date with Irene, and he says that they had a nice time at the theater. Franco is not happy about it, while Fawz was. Randy comes in saying that it was just a dirty jokes that caused the complaint from the cop. Sophia convinces Randy to tell the cop to speak out against the "boys club" at work. Irene then walks in and finds out that Arthur was just on a date with her to bribe her. She said that it was illegal, and she was going to report it.

Randy runs into Ted when she was practicing shooting, and she says that she spoke to the cop. Ted says that the cop needs to learn to take a joke, since he shouldn't have gotten reported for just a joke. Randy then takes the cops side and says that the guys would be angry if the girls didn't laugh. She says that the treatment that she got back then was not fun, and she was too afraid to speak out. After Randy says that she will back the rookie cop at HR, and Ted says that she no longer has his recommendation.

Arthur then finishes the repairs, and Randy tells the shop that she decided to back the cop. She got an assignment uptown, while Ted and the rookie cop have a hearing next week. A man walks into the shop saying that Arthur is fined $1,000 for bribing a city official. Arthur then bribes that guy with the bottle of scotch that he was supposed to give the old inspector. Franco is very disappointed in Arthur.

I really enjoyed this episode of Superior Donuts. Both storylines were great, and they were both very creative. It was great to see Randy go back to work because I missed that about the show for most of season two. I liked to see a disagreement between Sophia and Randy, since I find that Randy mostly fights with Arthur, Franco, and Fawz. Also, Katey Sagal and the guest stars were great in this episode. This episode was easily one of my favorite episodes this season. There were many funny moments during the episode. My only complaint about the episode is that Tush's random remarks were extremely repetitive and annoying.

Superior Donuts Season 2 Episode 14 Review

In this episode of Superior Donuts, Franco has a new girlfriend, but Sweatpants thinks that she is only dating him to show him off to her rich family and friends. Also, Arthur raises prices so he can buy a new boat motor, but he ends up not paying much attention to Randy and Tush when all of the younger and richer people come in. It was nice to see a Franco dating episode again, especially since he went out with someone other than Sophia, but I am kind of tired of Arthur interacting with the younger crowd who do not typically go into his 60s donut shop. 

The episode starts by Arthur saying that he needs a new motor for his boat. Randy suggests that he raises his prices, and Fawz adds that the new people in the neighborhood can afford it. Arthur is scared that he will lose his customers by raising prices. I did not like that topic being brought into the episode, since the show is basically about trying to get a younger crowd in the shop because the shop is basically a 60s shop. Maybe the episode could have been about Arthur trying to afford the motor by having a fundraiser. 

Then, a girl walks in, and she and Franco start kissing. Franco then introduces his new girlfriend, Tavi. She is an artist, and Franco has told her all about everyone at the shop. Arthur then decides to lower his prices. 

Tavi walks back into the shop and introduces her artistic friends to the shop. It is then revealed that her parents have an island with a groundskeeper. Tavi then says that Franco is coming to her art show tonight, and Sweatpants will also tag along. Fawz convinces Arthur to rise his prices by a huge amount. Also, Sweatpants tells Franco that Tavi is only dating him to make herself look open to hanging out with people with less money than she has. Franco and Sweatpants then show up at Tavi's art show, and Franco then says something insulting about her father. Franco then meets his father, and the two seem to bond pretty well. Franco then leaves and accuses Tavi of only dating him to show him off to her rich family and friends, like Sweatpants suggested. 

As Arthur keeps charging the new costumers way too much on the donuts, Randy admits that she does not like that the last thing in old Chicago is now transforming into another shop from the 21st century. When Tush walks in, one of the new costumers has his seat. This is another storyline in the show that I am getting tired of seeing, Randy/Tush vs Arthur. Franco then talks with Sophia about his breakup with Tavi, and she says that he needs to give it a chance because he never knows if it will work, which causes Franco to go to the art show, and he makes up with Tavi, and he bonds with Tavi's father. 

When Tush and Randy walk back into the shop, Arthur sees powdered sugar on Tush's face, and we find out that they have been hanging out at the competing donut shop in Chicago. Randy then talks to Arthur about how he was never in it for the money, and Arthur then announces that he is lowering prices on the donuts again, which basically removes all of the rich people from the shop. 

This episode had some funny moments, but I found the raising prices storyline to be quite annoying. The rich people did not have any chemistry with Arthur, and it was clear that their "bond" was very going to last. Plus, it was another episode on Randy trying to teach Arthur how to run the shop, and once again, Fawz kept reminding everyone that he is a greedy business man. I liked the other storyline though. It was nice to see another dating episode with Franco, especially since a lot of episodes have been about Franco's relationship with Sophia. This was an ok episode, not the best of the season.

Superior Donuts Season 2 Episode 13 Review

In this episode, we meet Fawz's son. It was nice to have an episode centered around Fawz, since he has not been really central this season. Fawz wants Franco to convince his son to go to college because his son wants to be a DJ. Also, Sophia is hosting a festival, so she wants people at the shop to help out when her helpers cancel. She should have thought about that. It's going to be fun meeting Fawz's son for the first time.

The episode begins with Arthur and Sophia arguing over the festival that Sophia has planed. She wants his help, and he refuses, but eventually agrees. And then the conversation moves to Fawz being mean to kids, as always. Tush will help Sophia with the animals at the festival, and Sweatpants wants to be the DJ, but she refuses unless she is "desperate." Arthur then complains about all that he has to do. Apparently, he has a scary basement in the shop with rats and other disgusting things. Fawz then wants his son to work at the shop for a week, so he can learn what hard work is and go to college.

We then meet the son, Abe, and Fawz is hovering over him. He then meets everyone at the shop. He thought that Tush was fake, and he mistakes Randy for Sophia. Franco witnesses Abe being a DJ, and Abe tells Franco that he wants to be a DJ. Franco decides to go against Fawz and supports Abe's plan of being a DJ, to Fawz's displeasure. Fawz then punishes Abe for wanting to be a DJ, causing him to stay with Franco for a few days.

Meanwhile, Sophia is having issues with her festival. Tush messes things up with the animals, while the food people bail. Franco volunteers Abe to be the DJ. Arthur doesn't think that Franco should be trying so hard to have Abe be a DJ, but Franco says that he is just trying to help Abe follow his dream. Back at the apartment, Franco realizes that Abe has only worked on one song, and then Franco kicks Abe out of his apartment.

For the millionth time in the episode, Sophia criticizes Tush and Arthur about the festival. Apparently Tush put a goat in the basement, and Sophia and the rest of the people at the shop make Tush get the goat for the festival. Meanwhile, Fawz freaks out about Abe's absence, until Abe comes in saying that he worked hard after Franco kicked him out to make music. Fawz is upset, until Randy convinces Fawz that it is good that Abe is becoming a DJ. Tush then walks up with the goat, Doug, and the episode ends.

This episode did not have many laughs, although Tush was pretty good in this one. I felt like it was hard to find a balance between storylines. Also, Abe's character was not very good, and I felt like the storyline was unnecessary, although it was nice to meet him. There have been better episodes, but there have also been worse ones.

Superior Donuts Season 2 Episode 12 Review

In this episode, Superior Donuts went with the theme of Black History Month. Wheels Langdon, an elderly man and former baseball player from the home that Sweatpants works in, came to the donut shop to teach a bunch of kids about his old times with Jackie Robinson. Meanwhile, Randy investigates Tush's most recent date.

This episode starts with Arthur watching the cops bust someone. It turns out that Randy knows that person. Randy then admits to missing working as a cop a little bit.

Tush then asks Randy how she likes this woman who he found on a dating site. Tush then listed the names of dating sites that he is on. I found the names of these sites to be unfunny and uninteresting. Pipe Smokers was the only interesting name for a dating app. It should have stopped there. In a quick change of topic, Franco storms in complaining to Fwaz about a sign that Fwaz used to lower his prices to make money. It seems like the show went from one topic to another in less than 10 seconds. That was too quick for me, and it seems like most episodes have Franco complaining to Fwaz about something that Fwaz says or does. I would have appreciated a different approach this time. Franco and Sweatpants then went on to complain that people do not know enough about Black History Month. Franco proposed that someone came into the shop to discuss Black History Month. In another quick transition, Tush said that he found someone named Amber Alert on the app. That scene had me laughing hysterically.

Tush walked in claiming that he was meeting someone named Paula for a date. Randy wants to investigate Tush's date. In yet another quick transition, Sweatpants told Franco that a baseball player who knew Jackie Robinson could come to the shop. After Tush left, Randy took Paula's cup to do a DNA Test. Once Wheels came in, he was not exactly pro-African American. I would have left out the orange president comment. Wheels was not positive about the African American's future. Wheels does not like Jackie because he "ruined everything." Wheels kept insulting Franco, until Franco tossed him out, but he stayed with Arthur. Going back to the Paula situation, Randy learned that she is crazy. Franco learns that the Wheels lied about his stats, and Franco tells him to get out after more fighting with him. Meanwhile, Tush does not seemed bothered about Paula's craziness, until he gets his eyebrow shaved by her. Also, Franco ends up going to the home to hear Wheel's story.

I really enjoyed this episode, although I was not a huge fan of the dating app names, nor was I am fan of the constant transitions between storylines. Both pilots were very funny, although I did not like Wheels very much. I liked to see Tush on a date finally.
