Wednesday TV Ratings 6/14/23: Abysmal Return for The Wonder Years, Judge Steve Harvey Rises in New Slot, MasterChef Leads (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Well over a year after it last aired, ABC sitcom 'The Wonder Years' (0.22/0.18) made its grand return in dismal fashion. This was understandably leagues below its season one start from back in September 2021 (0.67), but it was also a step behind its previous series low (0.29). Though season two of 'Wonder Years' got off to a rocky start in the 9 p.m. hour, 8 o'clock occupant  'Judge Steve Harvey' (0.33, +0.08) surged to a new season high in its move to a new night and time. At 10, an Aaliyah-themed edition of 'Superstar' (0.20) actually built on the 9:30 p.m. 'Wonder Years' by a tiny bit. It was a mixed bag over on Fox as 'MasterChef' (0.42, +0.03) jumped to a new season high, but 'Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars' (0.26, -0.02) dipped to a new low. On the CW, 'Nancy Drew' (0.06, -0.03) lost a bit of steam and led into a rerun of 'Riverdale' (0.03). CBS went with reruns of 'Ghosts' (0.24/0.21), 'Let's Make a Deal Primetime' (0.20), and 'CSI: Vegas' (0.12). NBC aired repeats of 'Night Court' (0.22/0.19), 'Chicago Fire' (0.20), and 'Chicago PD' (0.23).

Finals Update: 'Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Tuesday TV Ratings 11/30/21: La Brea Finale and The Bachelorette Steady, The Resident and The Flash Rise, The Voice Down (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: NBC's 'La Brea' (0.51, +0.05) capped off its first season by rising five-hundredths on a week-to-week basis. Considering 'The Voice' (0.73, -0.06) actually lost six-hundredths in the 8pm slot, that small uptick is definitely a good sign for the future of 'Brea'. A repeat of 'New Amsterdam' (0.22) closed out the evening for the peacock network. On ABC, 'Superstar' (0.28) returned to the schedule after being off for over a month. This episode of the series centered on the late British singer George Michaels and was completely steady with the Robin Williams installment from October (0.28). Earlier in the night, 'The Bachelorette' (0.65, +0.03) was three-hundredths higher than the last time it aired. After sinking to a series low the week prior, Fox's 'The Resident' (0.49, +0.14) shot up to its strongest rating in three weeks. 'Our Kind of People' (0.34, +0.06) was not able to rise quite as much but still found itself just a hundredth shy of its season high. Over on the CW, 'The Flash' (0.16, +0.02) gained two-hundredths while 'Riverdale' (0.06) held flat. CBS offered up encores of 'FBI' (0.38), 'FBI: International' (0.32), 'FBI: Most Wanted' (0.30).

Finals Update: 'The Bachelorette' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Wednesday TV Ratings 9/1/21: Press Your Luck and Pyramid Steady, MasterChef, Big Brother, AGT and House Calls with Dr. Phil Slip (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Despite its 'Big Brother' lead-in (0.95) holding steady, 'House Calls with Dr. Phil' (0.21) found itself falling into miserable territory on CBS. '48 Hours' (0.22) was even able to slightly grow from 'Phil', showing just how poor of a performer 'House Calls' is. On NBC, 'America's Got Talent' (0.65) and 'Family Game Fight!' (0.39) were flat at the same rounded rating they posted the week prior. A rerun of 'Chicago Fire' (0.27) nearly took the #1 spot in the 10pm hour. 'Press Your Luck' (0.55) and The $100,000 Pyramid' (0.51) rose by eight and five hundredths respectively on ABC. At 10, a Richard Pryor edition of 'Superstar' (0.28) was six-hundredths below last week's John Ritter episode. Fox's 'MasterChef' (0.53) inched down for a 2-hour installment while 'Riverdale' (0.06) and 'In the Dark' (0.07) were more-or-less even on the CW, with 'Dark' actually building from its lead-in.

Finals Update: 'Big Brother' (+0.1), 'America's Got Talent' (+0.1), and 'Press Your Luck' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Wednesday TV Ratings 8/25/21: Big Brother Ticks Down from Sunday but Stays #1, Pyramid and America’s Got Talent Also Down, MasterChef Rises for Two-Hour Episode (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: CBS's 'Big Brother' (0.95) found itself about half of a tenth higher than the previous Wednesday but fell short of its robust Sunday rating (1.06). 'House Calls with Dr. Phil' (0.28) gained just a single hundredth in week 2 and barely beat out a 10pm edition of '48 Hours' (0.26). On ABC, 'Press Your Luck' (0.47) rose by a tenth while 'The $100,000 Pyramid' (0.46) held even. 'Superstar' (0.34) improved by a few hundredths at 10, this time focusing on late comedian John Ritter. NBC experienced relative stability with 'America's Got Talent' (0.68), 'Family Game Fight!' (0.41), and a rerun of 'Chicago Med' (0.26). Fox's 'MasterChef' (0.57) picked up a tenth for a special two-hour episode, putting the Gordon Ramsay series at the top of its hour. 'Riverdale' (0.07) and 'In the Dark' (0.05) continued to fade away on the CW.

Finals Update: 'Big Brother' (+0.1), 'America's Got Talent' (+0.1), 'Press Your Luck' (+0.1), 'The $100,000 Pyramid' (+0.1), 'In the Dark' (+0.1), and the repeat of 'Chicago Med' (+0.1) adjusted up.
