Wednesday TV Ratings 9/15/21: America’s Got Talent, Pyramid and MasterChef Drop for Finales, House Calls Ends With a 0.1 (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: With the summer season winding down and the fall premieres on the horizon, there were a whopping six finales on Wednesday evening. The strongest of the bunch was NBC's 'America's Got Talent' (0.73), the reality series gained a tenth when compared to last Wednesday but trailed its Tuesday night performance (0.90). 'Family Game Fight!' (0.42) shed a few hundredths for its 8pm finale. ABC's 'Press Your Luck' (0.57) rose by two-hundredths for its season closer but 'The $100,000 Pyramid' (0.46) lost five-hundredths. A 10pm '20/20' special about poet laureate Amanda Gorman (0.22) retained less than 50% of the 'Pyramid' audience. On CBS, 'Big Brother' (0.86) held at the same rounded rating as the week prior while 'House Calls with Dr. Phil' (0.20/0.15) bowed out in horrific fashion. Fox's 'MasterChef' (0.52) inched down for its 2-hour season finale. 'Riverdale' (0.08) was essentially flat on the CW but was still bested by a pair of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' reruns' (0.09/0.11).

Finals Update: 'Big Brother' (0.9, +0.1), the 'Press Your Luck' finale (0.6, +0.1), the '$100,000 Pyramid' closer (0.5, +0.1), and the second-half of 'House Calls with Dr. Phil' (0.2, +0.1) adjusted up.

Wednesday TV Ratings 9/8/21: The Women of 9/11 Special Solid on ABC, Big Brother Rises from Sunday’s Low, MasterChef Ticks Up (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: On CBS, 'Big Brother' (0.9) shed a couple hundredths while 'House Calls with Dr. Phil' (0.2) and '48 Hours' (0.2) remained in putrid territory. 'MasterChef' (0.6) picked up a tenth and helped Fox maintain the highest average of the evening. NBC's 'America's Got Talent' (0.6) lost five-hundredths while 'Family Game Fight!' (0.4) was completely unfazed. A 10pm 'Chicago PD' rerun (0.2) was a tenth lower than last Wednesday. Coming a few days before the 20th anniversary of the attacks, ABC's 'Women of 9/11' special (0.5) topped the 9pm hour and built from its 'Press Your Luck' repeat lead-in (0.4). The CW had stable broadcasts of 'Riverdale' (0.1) and 'In the Dark' (0.1).

Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary ratings.

Wednesday TV Ratings 9/1/21: Press Your Luck and Pyramid Steady, MasterChef, Big Brother, AGT and House Calls with Dr. Phil Slip (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Despite its 'Big Brother' lead-in (0.95) holding steady, 'House Calls with Dr. Phil' (0.21) found itself falling into miserable territory on CBS. '48 Hours' (0.22) was even able to slightly grow from 'Phil', showing just how poor of a performer 'House Calls' is. On NBC, 'America's Got Talent' (0.65) and 'Family Game Fight!' (0.39) were flat at the same rounded rating they posted the week prior. A rerun of 'Chicago Fire' (0.27) nearly took the #1 spot in the 10pm hour. 'Press Your Luck' (0.55) and The $100,000 Pyramid' (0.51) rose by eight and five hundredths respectively on ABC. At 10, a Richard Pryor edition of 'Superstar' (0.28) was six-hundredths below last week's John Ritter episode. Fox's 'MasterChef' (0.53) inched down for a 2-hour installment while 'Riverdale' (0.06) and 'In the Dark' (0.07) were more-or-less even on the CW, with 'Dark' actually building from its lead-in.

Finals Update: 'Big Brother' (+0.1), 'America's Got Talent' (+0.1), and 'Press Your Luck' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Wednesday TV Ratings 8/25/21: Big Brother Ticks Down from Sunday but Stays #1, Pyramid and America’s Got Talent Also Down, MasterChef Rises for Two-Hour Episode (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: CBS's 'Big Brother' (0.95) found itself about half of a tenth higher than the previous Wednesday but fell short of its robust Sunday rating (1.06). 'House Calls with Dr. Phil' (0.28) gained just a single hundredth in week 2 and barely beat out a 10pm edition of '48 Hours' (0.26). On ABC, 'Press Your Luck' (0.47) rose by a tenth while 'The $100,000 Pyramid' (0.46) held even. 'Superstar' (0.34) improved by a few hundredths at 10, this time focusing on late comedian John Ritter. NBC experienced relative stability with 'America's Got Talent' (0.68), 'Family Game Fight!' (0.41), and a rerun of 'Chicago Med' (0.26). Fox's 'MasterChef' (0.57) picked up a tenth for a special two-hour episode, putting the Gordon Ramsay series at the top of its hour. 'Riverdale' (0.07) and 'In the Dark' (0.05) continued to fade away on the CW.

Finals Update: 'Big Brother' (+0.1), 'America's Got Talent' (+0.1), 'Press Your Luck' (+0.1), 'The $100,000 Pyramid' (+0.1), 'In the Dark' (+0.1), and the repeat of 'Chicago Med' (+0.1) adjusted up.
